W is for... Worth It!

W is for Worth It! @ kympossibleblog.blogspot.com
It's not unusual for someone to comment about homeschooling with something like, "that's a lot of work".  Yes, it is.  But it's worth it!  On the days when I'm tired or frustrated, or my kids are uncooperative, I need to be reminded of that.

It's worth it because...

I didn't have to try and keep it together emotionally while putting a kindergartner on the schoolbus, or leaving them in a classroom.

I got to enjoy the experience of my child reading for the first time, which was just as exciting as seeing them take their first steps.

My kids don't have to wait for the rest of the class or try to keep up with the rest of the class.

We can stay in our pajamas if we want to.  We can wear costumes in class if we feel like it.

We can take breaks whenever it suits us, not just when the bell rings.

We can take vacations when we feel like it.

I get to spend lots of time with my kids, and can enjoy their company.

We know where our kids are and who they are spending time with.  We get to know their friends, and their friends' families.

Even our busy days aren't as rushed and full of pressure as they would be if we had to catch buses and get kids to and from classes and then fit in some homework.

I don't need to produce a doctor's note if someone doesn't feel well.

I get to learn alongside my kids.

We can spend more time on the things that we are truly interested in, and on the things that truly matter.

We can teach from a Biblical worldview, and can actually disciple our kids and train them up in the way they should go.

And it's worth it when we see them being responsible and making good choices.  When someone notices that they are respectful and helpful, and encourages me by telling me. It's worth it when they make decisions to serve the Lord, to be involved in the church, and to serve others.

What makes homeschooling worth it for you?  Leave a comment and let me know!

Wonderful reminders. Homeschooling is definitely worth it. (This is coming from a mom who had to send her oldest children to public school).
Thanks for stopping by and sharing on Throwback Thursday. I can't wait to see what you share this week.
