Virtual Refrigerator: Castles and Coats of Arms

Welcome to another edition of the Virtual Refrigerator! This weekly blog hop was started by Jennifer at A Glimpse of Our Life, and is now also co-hosted by Angels of HeartHomeschool Coffee Break, and Every Bed of Roses. We all cordially invite you to add your link sharing the art that's on your Virtual Refrigerator and then hop over to the other blogs and admire what's on their Fridges!

Well... once again I'm going to turn to my archives for something to share. We got home from vacation very late on Monday, and have done very little school so far this week as we've tried to get back to routine - certainly no art, although I'm hoping we'll have better luck today and tomorrow. Anyway, I found these sketches of castles to stick on the fridge today.

We did those sketches while studying Europe during the Middle Ages. I had Landon and Kennady each choose a castle to sketch, and since hawking was a popular pastime among the nobility during that time period, they each sketched a hawk's head as well.

Another project we did was design individual coats of arms as we studied the history of their use and the development of the art of heraldry.

This was the book we used to help us learn about heraldry and choose designs: Design Your Own Coat of Arms: An Introduction to Heraldry.
Add a link to share your child's art or your arts and crafts how-to posts, and visit the other blogs and admire what's on their Virtual Refrigerators!

Thanks to Heather at Only Passionate Curiosity, you can grab the image below and help us share about the linky.
