Music {Homeschool Weekly Photo Challenge}

This week's photo challenge at The Canadian Homeschooler is Music, and how we include it in our homeschooling. I never had much success in teaching my boys music, but with my daughter it's a different story! She loves music, loves to sing, and keeps expressing interest in learning different instruments. Even so, it took until this past summer before we finally got around to getting her started with formal music lessons.

Last summer, she used her birthday money to buy herself a guitar and got started teaching herself to play.
This past summer, I found a piano and guitar teacher that is located very close to us (and since we live kinda in the boondocks, this is unusual!), and has very reasonable rates. We decided that for the summer, Kennady could take piano and guitar lessons every week, and we would re-evaluate in the fall when we started back to school and when she started with the Children's Chorus she is singing with. It worked out great, and in the fall we realized that the hour at lessons each week was a problem with our schedule, so we went to half-hour lessons and she alternates piano and guitar week to week.

Looks like you have quite the little musician there!

Nothing like the sound of music to warm a home.

Wishing you a lovely weekend.
