A few days ago I shared pictures of the first of our two days at Niagara Falls in A Niagara Falls PhotoJournal Part 1. Or some of them anyway! We had stayed the night on the New York side, and the next morning we headed back to Canada for the adventure we were all looking forward to - a cruise to the base of the falls with Hornblower Niagara Cruises! There is a very similar cruise offered by Maid of the Mist on the New York side, but we opted for the Ontario version, being Canadian ourselves and all.

By way of a review, I will say that the ticket booths on both sides could be better signed and advertised. The Maid of the Mist advertises that they are open and sail until 8:15pm, I believe, but we found out when we got there that the ticket booth closes at 7pm. You can buy tickets for the Hornblower at an ATM type machine where the tour group check-in is located, but there really aren't very good signs to tell you that, or to direct you to the actual entrance where you get to the boats. So if you go, give yourself time to work through that confusion or to ask a few questions. The cruise itself will be well worth it!

I mean, you get outfitted with these gorgeous red plastic ponchos, so right away you know it's going to be good! Yes, you get to keep the poncho! (I plan to wear mine to UpRise this weekend if the rain continues . . . )

On board, and cruising towards the falls!

We waved to our American neighbors on the Maid of the Mist.

All these people in red ponchos!

And at this point, we are all very grateful for the ponchos, because the "mist" from the falls might be more accurately described as "heavy rain".

Views you can't get from the walkways up above.

At this point, the "full mist" experience was such that everyone stepped back under the deck. Nobody needed to be THAT wet.

Good opportunity to pose for some photos! Me and my sister:

And the two of us with our daughters:

And the good-natured hubster, who did such a great job of being a tour guide and driver for us four girls:

We also cruised along the Bridal Veil and American Falls.

We visited Niagara Falls several years ago as a family and discovered what a wonderful family travel destination it is!

Wow!! Your pictures are absolutely stunning! I have lived in New York twice and never visited--I feel very sad about that hopefully one day I will be able to go with my family.
