Today I'm going to share pictures of a favorite quilt of mine. I have two aunts that are very creative, and between the two of them they can sew, do needlework, knit, crochet, bake, cook, and do all kinds of crafts better than almost anyone I know. They have been doing traditional quilting for many years, but a few years ago they added applique quilting to their dossier, making quilts that are wall-hangings rather than bedspreads. When I got the chance to request one for myself, I looked at catalogs and existing patterns and explained the kind of quilt that I'd like for my living room. They took the ideas that I shared and came up with their own pattern. Here is the finished result hanging in my living room:
And a closeup of the cabin:
We have a "northern mountain lodge" kind of theme that we are going for in that room, so the more traditional decorative stuff doesn't work, and nothing pink or flower-y. LOL In my dreams, I'd like to replace the brick fireplace with rough stone, and the carpet (I hate carpet btw) with barnwood-look flooring. Maybe someday. Or maybe we'll just wait until the kids are all grown and then move to a cabin in the woods - that's my dream home anyway. But the quilt will be on the living room wall of any house I live in!
Oh yeah, and imagine my surprise when my DH came home from a home and garden show a few years ago and told me he had acquired a moose head for our living room. o.O And that will fit in the room, HOW?????? Here's the moose head:
Isn't he great?!?!
Show & Tell is hosted by Mary aka CanadaGirl - head over to her place (she really does live in a cabin in the woods!) to see other Show & Tells and to participate!

I love both of those. We are in the middle of a big farm and that decor just fits here. We are trying to decide what kind of house to build. I think we are leaning toward an octogon. I would like to have one room done similar to yours.

I love the quilt and the moose is my kind of moose head!

What a unique head. Not what I expected. Are the quilts appliqued (sp)? Some people are so talented. I think quilting would be fun to do. I've made one very small lap quilt. Maybe I'll post that as an S&T next week. Such good ideas for S&Ts!
Your quilt is beautiful, even though it doesn't have flowery theme...I love it!
Blessings from Mama Karen
It always amazes me when people create such beautiful things when quilting. I have yet to learn that trade. Great show and tell.

LOVE your quilt : ) Very, very nice and your moose head is so cute made out of a log chunk! Thanks for sharing with us : )

I just love your quilt! It is great.
The moose is adorable.
I hate carpet, too. I love my laminate and would love to have hardwoods.
and the moose head is a great laugh! I'd love to see more pics of your living room decor!

That quilt! Your aunts are talented!
The moosehead..better your house than mine!!
The quilt is beautiful - but the fact that your aunts would make something like that for you is especially touching. You'll cherish that for a long time. I know I do whenever someone has made me something.

LOL! I love the moose! =D
Love the moose! So, did he tell you about it before you saw it, and did you picture the whole taxidermy thing? I sure would have!
Bob has always wanted to decorate rustic, and we got to in our sun porch before we moved, but all our hand-me down furnitures just don't accommodate that style. So I have a deer head in the bedroom now.
Civilization seems to be one that just got away from us. We have so many of that type, but they don't know that one. Zoo Tycoon is just too fun, too. Science/zoology?
thanks for the visit.
