Homeschool Mother's Journal: Christmas Craft Edition

In our homeschool... We tried to have a "normal" school week, but it was hard with so many things going on. We learned a little about the conquistadores and Spanish rule in South America, and about the movement for Latin American independence.
Both kids worked hard at math and English, and some Science. Kennady did a few art assignments. Friday morning we attended the Christmas Craft Breakfast. We took it easy this year, with Kennady doing only two crafts and Landon chose not to do any.
she didn't want me taking her picture though. haha Her friend Jenna was a much better sport!

she ducked right out of this picture - she is the blur on the bottom right.

Helpful homeschooling tips or advice to share... I was talking with a friend at the Christmas Craft Breakfast and she shared her sanity strategy for the holidays this year - she has decided to take every Friday in December off from schoolwork.

In other news... My choir concerts were on Monday and Tuesday evenings. We have one more performance on a Saturday evening and then I am on break till the middle of January. Kennady's choir had an extra rehearsal on Thursday evening to prepare for their part in the Big Band Merry Christmas Concert on Saturday night.

The kids did a fundraiser for youth group, and the orders came in this week! We've been distributing coffee with our thanks to the friends who supported us by buying. And enjoying our own coffee, of course!
DH ordered a new oven and it was delivered on Friday afternoon! Now we just have to get it installed...
One of my favorite things this week... Christmas music at the concerts, and enjoying coffee and dessert with friends afterwards.

Things I'm working on... cleaning, decorating, and hopefully soon I can do some baking! There won't be any Schoolhouse Crew reviews for me to work on until at least January, so I'll have some updates to work on here in my bloggy teacher's lounge.

My posts this week included:
A video to share... I heard they got an awful lot of snow back home in Alberta, there's a lot in the midwest, and we're expecting some to fall here in the next few days or so. I absolutely loved this version of "Let It Snow" by Captain Picard and had to share it! Make it so!

On the bookshelf...
  • Worship on Earth as it is in Heaven - Rory Noland
  • Sticky Faith - Dr Kara E Powell & Dr Chap Clark
  • Texas Christmas Brides/Texas Christmas Grooms
  • Pride and Honour - Nathaniel Burns
Finished At Home in Dogwood Mudhole by Franklin Sanders, A Christmas Garland by Anne Perry, The Sweetest Kiss by Marie Higgins, and read The Spirit of Christmas by Henry van Dyke.

A parting shot... These are Kennady's crafts - scented bath salts in a decorative bottle, and decoupaged tile coasters.

Hi, I'm stopping by from Christian Fellowship. Okay, the Let It Snow video is hilarious. :-) This time of year is very busy. I know we aren't going to get full weeks of school in. Thankfully our co-op is on break.
