I'm sometimes surprised at how much I enjoy watching softball games, since I only started paying attention to this sport when my daughter started playing. She has played in the spring league for several years, and this year she is playing Fall Ball for the first time.
We've been lucky in that her teams have been pretty successful, even winning a couple of championships.
The uniform has gone from shorts to sliding pants.
And the team color changed from purple to green. We don't even know yet what color the girls will wear for the fall league.
Sometimes we stumble across NCAA softball games on TV and we actually watch and have a pretty good idea what's going on. We've even attended an NCAA game.
Yes, it counts as phys.ed.! And her hard work at learning the skills are paying off. She plays well - not a slugger or the star of the team, but she knows how to play her positions and gives a good account of herself at bat and on the field.
Most importantly, she has fun and is making friends.

What a sweet post. Myself, I don't think I have ever watched a softball game but it is great that you have found yourself enjoying it. I find it interesting how much we begin to enjoy certain things when our children take a liking to it. Thanks for sharing and I hope she has an awesome, fulfilling fall season. - Lori H
