January's Art Challenge: Doorways
The hosts of the Virtual Refrigerator are giving a themed challenge to each other and to our readers each month. For January, the theme has been Doorways. Many of us know that the first month on the calendar was named for a mythical Roman god named Janus, but I didn't know that his name comes from the Latin word (ianua) meaning 'door' - since January is the door to the year. Did you find a way to feature doors or doorways in your student's art this month? Share your doorway themed art here!

February's Art Challenge: Valentines or Birds
Starting next week, we'll be looking for artwork with the theme of Valentines, or artwork featuring Birds. February is the month of the Backyard Bird Count, if you're wondering how we chose that! Please continue to share any art posts on our Virtual Fridge as well - we love seeing all of them!

As promised, here is Bilbo Baggins' door.

By some curious chance one morning long ago in the quiet of the world, when there was less noise and more green, and the hobbits were still numerous and prosperous, and Bilbo Baggins was standing at his door after breakfast smoking an enormous long wooden pipe that reached nearly down to his woolly toes (neatly brushed) - Gandalf came by.

You can grab the button above and add it to your post. Add your link here to share your child's art or your arts and crafts how-to posts. Please visit the other blogs and admire what's on their Virtual Refrigerators!

What an interesting idea for a blog hop!
Awhile back, you commented on one of my posts at Harvest Lane Cottage.
It was about A Lady of Willowgrove Hall. I apologize for being late in answering. Here's my reply:

Hi Kym,

So sorry I missed this comment, it was buried. Please forgive me!
Did you like A Lady of Willowgrove Hall?
I look forward to reading more of Sarah Ladd's books.

By the way, your comment came through to me as no reply blogger. I wrote a post about fixing that this week if you're interested.

Are You a No Reply Blogger?

I'll drop by soon.

Laura
