In our homeschool... as usual, we didn't get as much done as we would have liked, but progress was made. Kennady worked on a couple of brief research projects for Science, and did some Geography, but spent a majority of time on Literature and Math this week.
Landon worked mostly on History and Grammar. He was eager to be chosen for one of the upcoming Schoolhouse Crew reviews - DrumsWithWillie - and is already getting himself all set up with the drum kit in his room so that he'll be ready to start lessons!

In other news... well, the big news was/is Harrison's second job interview, which he felt went extremely well, and it is a job that he really wants. There will be a bit of a waiting game before that station makes final decisions, but we do rather expect that they will extend an offer, and he intends to accept it. That will mean he will be planning a move to another state! I guess we should have been trolling yard sales already to start amassing some of the household goods he'll need to set up his own apartment... This is a big step for him - and for us, since this is our first child to leave the nest - so we all appreciate prayers throughout the decision making process and the transitions to come.
Things that made me smile... this may sound weird, but the spring peepers 'singing' in the evening. Some people are annoyed by the nightly chorus, but I like it. (They are little chorus frogs common around here, and their call is a sign of spring, just as surely as the sighting of robins.)
34 Weeks of Clean...
I'm participating in a weekly challenge and link-up at Family, Faith, and Fridays. Our assignment this week was the master bedroom. Yes, mine needed - and still needs - plenty of work, but I completely failed to take any pictures of it in progress! My bedroom has a few 'hot spots' (to use the FlyLady term) that collect clutter like crazy, and my desk is also in the bedroom. Not ideal, but I work with what I have. I'm assuming that our desks will probably have a week of their own in the 34 Week challenge, so I chose a couple of other hot spots to work on. I suppose I will do the same thing I did a couple weeks back, and give my bedroom project a post of its own in a couple of days. That will also give me an extra day or two to work on it!
During Week 16, we are going to be cleaning our Master Closets. Let me tell you, my master closet needs work at least as much as my Master Bedroom. In fact, just this morning, I spent waaaaaaaaaaaaay too long hunting down the pair of flip-flops I wanted, and I kept thinking, "this needs to be cleaned OUT!" Well, here's my chance. And yours! For the details of the assignment, go to Family, Faith, and Fridays. Join in if you haven't already, and check back next week for our progress!
I recommend... checking the Schoolhouse Crew blog for the latest reviews coming in. Crew members are always reviewing great products, but this particular one is a favorite of ours - ARTistic Pursuits. We weren't reviewing this wonderful art curriculum this time around, but we are big fans. We have reviewed it before though, and you can see those here: ARTistic Pursuits Middle School Book Two (March 2013) and ARTistic Pursuits Sculpture Technique (April 2014).
On my blog this week...
Curriculum Fair Shopping and Survival Tips
Virtual Refrigerator - Symmetry
A Taste of Europe - Andorra
Middle School Monday - A Little Hands-On Science
On the bookshelf... is pretty much the same as last week. I just finished the Heidi St John book, and will be giving a thorough review of it on this blog in a couple of weeks.
Brigid of Ireland by Cindy Thomson
The Crimson Cord: Rahab's Story by Jill Eileen Smith
A Place Beyond Courage by Elizabeth Chadwick
The Busy Homeschool Mom's Guide to Daylight by Heidi St. John
Pemberley to Waterloo: Georgiana Darcy's Diary, Volume 2 by Anna Elliott
I didn't review anything new on my book blog this week, but you can check out what's going on over there. You'll find it at Just A Second.
A parting shot...
