Homeschool Weekly - Busy Days Edition

In our homeschool... despite another week full of interruptions, we worked hard at school, but I think we're starting to feel a little swamped! The official end of the year is in sight, but it seems we still have a ton to get through. I have been falling behind on grading lately, and it's hard to find time to work together on anything when we find ourselves headed in all different directions most days! Landon and I managed to connect to work on his Grammar course this week, but working together on Composition is more of a challenge, since Kennady needs to be involved with that as well. Thankfully, Kennady is being diligent (most of the time!) with Science, Geography, and Latin, even when I can't spend the time with her that I'd planned on.

I started filling in some more blanks in Kennady's four-year high school plan, and she and I started talking about Science and English for next year. (I shared our plans in my Middle School Monday post.)



I like the artistic ideas Kennady added to her Science unit study recently. We'll be sharing our full review of the unit study Weather on the Move from Homeschool Legacy in about a week!





Other Schoolhouse Crew reviews we are working on include: DrumsWithWillie, Latina Christiana, and the Student Writing Intensive from Institute for Excellence in Writing. We'll also have our first chance at using the Exploring Creation Field Trip Journal from Apologia for a field trip today. This afternoon we'll be checking out the CAF Red Tail Squadron's traveling Rise Above exhibit and learning about the Tuskegee Airmen. As part of Civil Air Patrol, Landon will be working at the exhibit all day as well.

In other news... last weekend the choir I sing in held our concerts - featuring the music made popular by Frank Sinatra. With my choir season completed, and gym class finished for the kids, you'd think some space would open up on the calendar! You'd never know that it had - not this week anyway. On Monday, Landon had to be in town to assist Civil Air Patrol as parking attendants at an event. We still had music lessons, Civil Air Patrol, and Children's Chorus on Tuesday. There was a church picnic on Wednesday evening. Worship team practice on Thursday evening. Landon needed a ride to a friend's place yesterday. Spencer needed rides to work a few times during the week. So much for "white space"!

And... when I wasn't driving somebody somewhere, there were other things to take my attention. Mostly helping Harrison get ready for his move to Ohio. He leaves tomorrow. We're so excited for him because this is a great job situation, but it will certainly be a big change and will take plenty of adjustment. For him and for us.

Things that made me smile... Kennady will be on worship team with us again this week, and she is also singing special music with me. It's a huge treat for me to be able to sing with her, and I hope that she considers it a positive thing as well! Many teens would not, but I think she does.

34 Weeks of Clean...

I've been participating in a weekly challenge and link-up at Family, Faith, and Fridays, and this past week was our chance to take a Half-Time break - a chance to catch up or finish a project or two, or to put our feet up and feel good about what we've accomplished so far! Or maybe a bit of both. I kept working on my bedroom and closet, and was busy helping Harrison get things done for his move. With his room being vacated, I guess the next assignment in this challenge might be well-timed for me. During Week 19 we're going to be cleaning bedrooms again - kids' rooms, guest rooms, or whatever. For details, go to Family, Faith, and Fridays and join in if you haven't already!
