In our homeschool... we took a break! Well, more like the kids took a break. I finalized their grades and got their final report cards done. And I've been playing around with lesson plans for the things they do need to finish over the summer as well as starting on a bit of planning for next year. I'm trying to do a lot of that planning on the Homeschool Planet online planner from Homeschool Buyers Co-op, for a review later this summer.
Kennady did work some on math at the beginning of the week, and Landon is still working on History, but for the most part they were on break this week, and they will be on break all of next week.
The big milestone was that Kennady and I decided what she will do for Literature next year. She is going to combine a Lightning Lit study of British Early-Mid 19th Century Literature with Miniatures and Morals, which is a study of all six Jane Austen novels. You can read all our details in my Middle School Monday post from earlier this week. Of course... I guess that means I'll need to order the Lightning Lit study sometime soon. Writing myself a note to do that by the end of the month...
There are still reviews to work on too. Kennady is helping me review a Bible study from Prasso Ministries. She'll also fit in some work on Unlock Math, and she'll be delighted to find the newest Heirloom Audio production has arrived - With Lee in Virginia!

In other news... we are slowly working on putting our living room back together. I don't want to put anything on the walls until I'm sure I've got the furniture where I want it.
Our Wednesday night youth activity was to do a little block party in town. The teens did face painting, played with kids, and helped dish out ice cream.
Kennady left on her choir trip to New York yesterday, so that is pretty exciting. The hubster and I are going to go up for one day so we can take in their concert at Carnegie Hall!
And Spencer finally got his drivers license, so that was a huge relief! No more stressing about that. Now he will be stressing about shopping for a car, I guess.
Things that made me smile... this party keg of root beer that Landon made me buy!

34 Weeks of Clean...
I've been participating in a weekly challenge and link-up at Family, Faith, and Fridays and our assignment was the porch and deck. Guess what. I didn't take any pictures. We didn't do much with those areas this week though. Hubby power-washed it all over the past couple of weeks. Just a little painting this week - it was hard to get much done with our busy schedules and the rain that kept coming every evening!
For Week 25, the assignment is the Yard! Makes sense, since we were looking at cleaning our porch and deck last week. For the details of the assignment, go to Family, Faith, and Fridays. Join in if you haven't already, and check back next week for our progress!
I recommend... getting a coloring book! This one Kennady chose at the art museum has been a real hit!
On my blog this week...
Virtual Refrigerator - Coloring Book
A Taste of Europe - Stuffed Peppers
Middle School Monday - Planning the High School Reading List

On the bookshelf...
Hearts Made Whole (Beacons of Hope) by Jody Hedlund - loving it!
The Unknown Ajax by Georgette Heyer
Star of Wonder: A Novella by Tracy Higley - only a chapter or two into this one.
Suddenly Mrs. Darcy by Jenetta James - I am trying this one on my Kindle Unlimited, and hoping that I don't regret it as another trashy attempt at JAFF.
I finished Laiden's Daughter by Suzan Tisdale and reviewed it on my book blog. Short version? Don't bother with it! I finished Abigail: A Novel (The Wives of King David) by Jill Eileen Smith right at the end of last week, so I reviewed it this week. You can see my other book-related posts on my book blog, Just A Second.

A parting shot... Landon, getting some driving practice in.
