In our homeschool... Kennady has been focused on Illuminating Literature curriculum from Writing with Sharon Watson - specifically reading the Mark Twain book Puddin'head Wilson this week. She also did an art project for our Artist Studies August post on the Virtual Refrigerator. Since she has been fascinated by the style of Piet Mondrian recently, we started with his work, and she has been doing some Mondrian-styled designs for fun, as well as this Composition in Foil and Marker.

Landon worked on Algebra and History, and we got started using Stinky Kids Math - what a fun name, right? We'll be reviewing that in a few weeks, so stay tuned! I do have the Switched-On Schoolhouse program set up on the second computer, but still need to get the Consumer Math course set up with assignment so that Landon can start working on that. I have this week to work on it, I suppose, since he is away at camp and our new school year officially starts next Monday.

In preparation for a new school year, I've been learning how to use Homeschool Tracker Online - it's different enough from the Homeschool Tracker Plus I've loved for so many years that there is a learning curve! - so I can bring you a full review of that in a week or so!

In other news... Last Sunday evening we went mini-golfing - we are all horrible mini-golfers, except for the hubster, so our scores were flat-out embarrassing. But we had a good time, so that's all that matters.

Landon spent three days over at the church helping to paint the children's area. Well, priming, really, but same idea. And he has been putting in as much practice time driving as he can. He got to drive the entire way to Civil Air Patrol this week, since we didn't need to offer a ride to anyone else.

We took the youth into town to do face-painting and dish out ice cream for the kids in our "adopted" neighborhood again. That was Wednesday night. Thursday night was worship team practice - Kennady is on the team with us again this week, and we talked her into bringing her guitar to practice just to try playing along with a couple songs. And she is planning on playing for a few songs tomorrow morning - big step!

Today Landon left with friends for a week at their church camp, so it will be another "lonely" week for me and Kennady at home!

Things that made me smile... how much Kennady got into the artist study projects, and if I do say it myself, I was quite proud of the way my title graphic for the Piet Mondrian study turned out! I don't know if I'll be nearly that lucky with our next artist!

34 Weeks of Clean...
I had been participating in a weekly challenge and link-up at Family, Faith, and Fridays but have fallen by the wayside the past couple of weeks as we were supposed to be working on our home office spaces. This past week we were to update our address book and do an office deep clean. I had great intentions of doing it, but haven't got to it yet. Story of my life... I'm such a procrastinator. But! We did make some progress in putting our living room and family room back together, and the hubster and I made some plans for what projects we are going to work on over the next few weeks, and in what order.

Still working on tidying my paperwork and bills, and on tidying my computer... someday my desk WILL be wonderfully neat and efficient. I just know it. And when it is, I will definitely take pictures and share.

For Week 32, the assignment is The Garage! Let me tell you something - our garage needs much more than a week's worth of work! We have been working on it already though, and I did share some of those pictures a couple weeks ago. Since it's really the guys that are doing most of the work out there, I'll just help out a bit and share whatever progress we make! For the details of the assignment, go to Family, Faith, and Fridays. Join in if you haven't already, and check back next week for our progress!

I recommend... following along on the Back to Homeschool Blog Hop next week! I'll be joining with over 50 homeschool bloggers sharing about our Back to Homeschool plans.

On the bookshelf...

Anne of Green Gables by L.M. Montgomery (Anne of Green Gables Collection (for Kindle))
Swept Away: A Fairwilde Reflection Regency Fairy Tale by Vanessa Riley
Lady Maybe by Julie Klassen

This week I finished The Unknown Ajax by Georgette Heyer and reviewed it. (Read it here!) You can also check out other book-related posts on my book blog, Just A Second.

A parting shot... Kennady was doodling everything up with Piet Mondrian style designs last week.
