In our homeschool . . . the end of the first quarter came and went this week, and didn't impact us much because we didn't have to submit any grades or report cards, but we did use that opportunity to check our progress. Because we should be about a quarter of the way through our schoolwork, shouldn't we? We're not, of course, but in most subjects, at least we're close. I've been updating the Homeschool Tracker and producing new assignment lists, which I'd sort of neglected during October.

Science is looking pretty good, although Landon is a bit further along in that than Kennady. Landon worked on History, Drafting, and Math; and Kennady worked on Literature, Science, and Math.

In other news . . . on Sunday we had to say good-bye to our oldest son again as he headed back to Columbus. We managed to take a few pictures with the whole family before he left. Believe it or not, it was harder for me to say good-bye this time than when he first left; and I'm not quite sure why.

But seriously.
Then on Monday, I had to bid farewell to my parents and aunts. I managed to drive them to the train station in Washington DC, and to drive home by myself without getting lost! The rest of the week was pretty much back to our normal routine, but it sure seemed empty and quiet in the house after having so many extra people here for a week!

Thursday evening was a little different from the usual, though. Hubby had put my name into a radio drawing, and I won two tickets to see Don Henley in DC! So the hubster and I had a very interesting date night, taking the metro into the city, having a quick dinner in a sub shop, and attending the concert.

So far today we've tried to get a few things done around here, including defrosting the deep freeze, and I have some baking to do later this afternoon. Plus I'll have to make dinner, I suppose. Ugh. I'm so not a fan of menu planning or cooking. Oh well.
