We really have been taking a break for the holidays, so even though this is titled "Homeschool Weekly" I don't have much in the way of homeschooling to update on at all. Just a quick update on our last couple of weeks to let folks know what we're doing and that my blog has not been forgotten during these busy holidays!
In our homeschool . . . we were on break the last couple weeks, so only a little reading here and there. We don't expect to be back to school in earnest until January.
In other news . . . Some of the holiday activities that we've been busy with include the Children's Chorus concert on December 13th;
a week spent visiting family and friends in Ontario; the hubster's company Christmas party; more last minute shopping than usual; worship team rehearsals and rehearsals for the Christmas eve service; and even a trip to the piano shop to pick up a prize! I won a drawing for a keyboard!
Things that made me smile . . . visiting with friends and family; beautiful Christmas lights and music; a lovely Christmas Eve service; and fun with family on Christmas Day. I guess even the unseasonably warm weather made me smile, especially when we saw this Chinook arch lookalike on Christmas Eve during the day.

We had a beautiful Christmas Eve service at church, in which Kennady was a soloist and Landon had a speaking part. After the service, we came home and had coffee and snack foods and watched "A Christmas Carol" (the Alistair Sim version) as is our Christmas Eve tradition.
On Christmas morning, we allowed ourselves to sleep in a bit, then enjoyed brunch together before opening our gifts. Our Christmas dinner was relatively small and quiet this year, with only the five of us, but all the food was delicious. We even cleaned up all together - now there's something I hope to make a tradition far more often than just on Christmas! - and later in the evening we adjourned to the family room with homemade eggnog, coffee, and snacks to watch our traditional Christmas Day movie - It's a Wonderful Life. That is my all-time favorite Christmas movie, and some years the hubster and I watch it a few times!
On my blog the past two weeks . . .

On the bookshelf . . .
The Fatal Tree (Bright Empires) by Stephen R Lawhead
Worship Changes Everything: Experiencing God's Presence in Every Moment of Life by Darlene Zschech
Odd Thomas: You Are Destined to Be Together Forever (Short Story) by Dean Koontz
A Taste of Traditional Regency Romances: Extended excerpts of Regency novels (Bluestocking League Book 1) by Gail Eastwood, Camille Elliot, April Kihlstrom, Vanessa Riley, Regina Scott
Books recently completed and reviewed it on my book blog, Just A Second, include: A Christmas Escape: A Novel by Anne Perry; Star of Wonder: A Novella (The Incense Road Book 1) by Tracy L Higley; and Holiday Buzz (A Coffeehouse Mystery) by Cleo Coyle. You can find other reviews and book-related things there as well.
A parting shot . . . This is what happens when I change my camera settings and accidentally snap a picture when we're in the car on the way to see Christmas light displays in the park. Ironically, the accidental shot of the road ahead of us turned out better than the few I attempted as we drove through the park! As we near the end of 2015, it's sort of a reminder of how fast the days go by.

I usually link up at the Weekly Wrap-Up hosted by Weird, Unsocialized Homeschoolers, and at Christian Fellowship Weekend hosted by Biblical Womanhood but both are taking a holiday break and will be back in January.
