Welcome to Homeschool Highlights!
This weekly link-up is your opportunity to share some highlights of what is happening in your homeschool and in your world each week. If you write a wrap-up post at the end of each week, like I've been doing, we'd love to see what you're busy with from week to week. If you'd like to pick a favorite post from your week that spotlights a resource or activity in your homeschool that you'd like to tell others about, we're interested in those too. I'm keeping the guidelines as simple as I can, and they will appear at the bottom of each post, along with the link tool. I look forward to getting to know you, and I hope this will be a source of encouragement and good ideas for all of us.
Homeschool news . . . Even though there's still some Consumer Math to finish up over the summer, we took this past week to call an All Stop to homeschooling! Kennady and I both have earned a break, and we wanted to enjoy our last few days with family before we settle into a school and work routine for the summer. So the only homeschool thing that happened was me sending out the final grades to my co-op students!
Other news . . . Technically I have two weeks worth of "other news" I need to catch up on, but don't worry - it shouldn't take long to summarize!
My parents were here for a visit, arriving just before Mother's Day, and heading home this past Wednesday. For the most part our work schedules stayed the same as always, so we had evenings and some days to spend together. It was nice just to have Mom or Dad (or both of them) come along for the ride and some time to visit while I did errands or kept appointments. The big one was Landon's eye doctor appointment. Mom came with me to take Landon for his final pre-op appointment. He had his lasik surgery last Friday, and has been doing great! He doesn't need glasses at all any more!
Graduation was last Thursday, and the ceremony was so good! I'll share a whole collection of photos after the weekend, but here a few:
And today we are doing the final preparations for Kennady's grad party which will take place tomorrow!
Our oldest son and his family were here for the grad and the long weekend, and it was such a wonderful treat to have the sweetest little granddaughter ever here! We had one big family "dinner out" - we got takeout pizza and had a picnic at a park. We figured that was better than to take ten of us plus a squirmy toddler to a restaurant and try to have any kind of conversation there.
On Monday morning, we said our goodbyes to Harrison and family, and the rest of us all went into town for the Memorial Day parade. I was working, but in front of the coffee roastery is an excellent spot to take in the parade! Landon was marching with the Civil Air Patrol again this year. (See more about Memorial Day and the parade in my post A Memorial Day 2019 PhotoJournal)

What's New . . . the May 2019 Homeschool Collection on the Homeschool Review Crew blog is live today. See what the Crew bloggers are sharing this month! You'll find some graduation related posts from me in the collection, including my Homeschool Essentials for Graduating - Faith and Worldview and a guide to planning for high school in How Do You Make a Four Year Plan for High School?.
I recommend . . . checking in with the new co-hosts of the Virtual Refrigerator: Jennifer at A "Peace" of Mind and Kristin at A Mom's Quest to Teach. Now that we are finished homeschooling, I've passed the art link-up into their capable hands and will participate whenever I do have some artwork to share.
On my blogs last week . . .

So glad his surgery went great. What a wonderful idea to get take out and bring it to the park. We have a large family with multiple aged children and it can be so hard to be at a long restaurant table and still be able to talk (plus many of the younger kids can not sit still that long). Good luck with the grad party tomorrow!
Congratulations on the graduation!!!
