From the High School Lesson Book - Free Helps for Homeschooling High School

Free Helps for Homeschooling High School - From the High School Lesson Book on Homeschool Coffee Break @ kympossibleblog.blogspot.com

In general, when I'm talking to moms who are a little nervous about their ability to homeschool - especially all the way through high school - my advice is: You can do this! (I even wrote a whole post about it last week: A Cup of Coffee and a Word of Advice - Be Confident) But it always helps to have some practical and encouraging how-to guides in your resource library! I'd like to highlight some great resources that I found recently. And guess what? They can be acquired for FREE during the month of April, so keep reading for those details.

Since I joined the Schoolhouse Review Crew a few years ago, I've been able to check out lots of cool resources offered through The Old Schoolhouse Store. The store is well-stocked with curriculum and resources for homeschooling, parenting, gardening, cooking, cleaning and organizing. Browse the store just a few moments, and you'll see what I mean - LOTS to choose from! But I'm focusing on homeschooling through high school here, so I want to draw your attention to a couple of collections of e-books. (The bundle titles are linked directly to that product in the store.)

Homeschooling Through High School Bundle - This contains two e-books, Homeschooling the High Schooler, and Help, Lord, I'm Getting Ready to Start Homeschooling My High Schooler! Homeschooling the High Schooler is a collection of articles from homeschool moms and grads, full of encouragement and practical advice. You'll find information on CLEP testing, designing courses of study, dual enrollment, transcripts, being prepared for college, and alternatives to a traditional college education.
In Help, Lord, I'm Getting Ready to Start Homeschooling My High Schooler! you'll read the stories of many different homeschool families, and the challenges they faced in educating their high school students at home. The unifying thread through each of the stories is God's faithfulness to help them give each teen the education and individual attention needed for them to be successful in what God had called them to. A very encouraging set of stories, indeed!

High School and Beyond Bundle - This is a collection of four helpful ebooks.
Career Exploration for High School Students by Carol Topp is a concise guide for helping teens identify their dreams and start preparing for a career that suits their talents and interests.
Get Into College by Claire Novak offers some guidance in choosing a college and understanding transcripts, CLEPs and other options.
Career Training, Mentorship, and Parenthood by Inge P. Cannon explains how an apprenticeship or mentoring model of career training can be successful in our modern world.
My favorite in this whole collection is College Success Begins At Home, which is over 100 pages of advice on building an individualized strategy for success for your student, especially preparing them for college. There's some nitty gritty on crafting a transcript, and why it's important to study grammar. The book also addresses the question of whether college is the best choice for every student, and how to choose between a traditional college education or a more creative approach.

Not only am I recommending these e-book bundles, but thanks to the generosity of  the Schoolhouse Store, I'm able to offer them for FREE to my readers this month. Simply use my coupon code KTCREW16 at the checkout, and enjoy! Please say "thank you" to Gena Suarez, publisher of The Old Schoolhouse Magazine, and the rest of the Schoolhouse family on the TOS Homeschool Crew Facebook page. Make sure you "like" the page so you can stay up to date on all the helpful articles and reviews of great homeschool products.
