52 Lists #51 - Favorite Lists

This week we've been asked to pick favorites from the 52 Lists at Beauty Full Slow over the year. I only joined in partway through the year, and some of the lists I missed looked like great fun, but here are my favorites of the ones that I did.

Our Family Traditions (List #38) - what fun to list the silly and sentimental things that bring our family together.



If I Had a Million Dollars (List #35) - This was a lot of fun, because I could dream about the wonderful (and sometimes wacky) things I could do if I won the lottery. Practical things like paying off debt, exciting things like traveling, and unusual things like adding a pool, a hot tub, and an indoor hockey rink to our property.



Favorite Movies (List #47) - My list of favorite movies became much longer than I would have thought possible.



Food, Glorious Food (LIst #33) - I worked up an appetite listing some favorite restaurants, and I got a kick out of the quote that I found to include with this list:

I was eating in a Chinese restaurant downtown. There was a dish called Mother and Child Reunion. It's chicken and eggs. And I said, I gotta use that one. ~Paul Simon

When I started doing the 52 Lists I decided to choose a fun or interesting quote that related to the list for each one. That has turned out to be one of the most entertaining parts of each assignment. Here are two I found for today's list that caught my eye:

We don't need to have just one favorite. We keep adding favorites. Our favorite book is always the book that speaks most directly to us at a particular stage in our lives. And our lives change. We have other favorites that give us what we most need at that particular time. But we never lose the old favorites. They're always with us. We just sort of accumulate them. ~Lloyd Alexander
