Homeschool Highlights - It's December! ~A weekly homeschool link-up hosted by Homeschool Coffee Break @ kympossibleblog.blogspot.com

Welcome to Homeschool Highlights!
This weekly link-up is your opportunity to share some highlights of what is happening in your homeschool and in your world each week. If you write a wrap-up post at the end of each week, like I've been doing, we'd love to see what you're busy with from week to week. If you'd like to pick a favorite post from your week that spotlights a resource or activity in your homeschool that you'd like to tell others about, we're interested in those too. I'm keeping the guidelines as simple as I can, and they will appear at the bottom of each post, along with the link tool. I look forward to getting to know you, and I hope this will be a source of encouragement and good ideas for all of us.

Grab a cup of coffee and let's get started!

Homeschool news  . . . Anything kind of like a routine was mostly out the window this week as we were in holiday busy mode. Monday was a fairly normal school day, and Tuesday was pretty much the same as always with a little school in the morning and then gym in the afternoon and chorus in the evening. But starting Wednesday it got crazy. Kennady is doing the backdrop for the Christmas play at church again this year, and on Wednesday she spent the afternoon at the church with her friend, doing the priming. On Thursday, we were home in the morning and worked on school, but were at a co-op planning meeting and had shopping to do in the afternoon. And today, we were at the Christmas Craft Breakfast all morning, and might go work on the backdrop this afternoon.

Wednesday evening's work session on the backdrop, when we got more helpers
than we had paint rollers!
So the subjects covered this week were History, Health, Music, and Art.

Other news . . .  Goodness, I can't even remember what we did on Saturday! I know I got some baking done, but no idea what else. Sunday evening we got together with friends to watch the Grey Cup (Canadian Football League's championship game, for those who aren't familiar) and to celebrate the hubster's birthday.

Monday and Tuesday evenings were my choir's Christmas concerts so those were very busy days. The rest of the week has been spent helping Kennady one way and another with the backdrop project, and running other errands. One of the meetings during the week was a planning meeting with some moms in our homeschool group. We're starting to explore the possibility of having a year-round co-op that would offer a couple of classes at high school level, so we kicked around some ideas related to that. Thursday evening Kennady had an extra rehearsal for one of the concerts her choir is singing in, so that was yet another trip to town.

And my parents will be coming for Christmas! They just booked their flights so our holiday season plans are shifting a little bit. We're definitely fitting in a trip to Columbus to see my granddaughter!

What's New . . . Kennady's blue hair, which seems to be quite a hit!

I recommend . . . visiting The Homeschool Post, home to the weekly Homeschool Blog & Tell link-up. And also where I'm a contributing writer with posts like Counting Holiday Homeschool Days. During the month of November, The Homeschool Post writers focused on homeschooling through the holidays, and there are several helpful articles from different perspectives that I think you'll enjoy.

On my blogs last week . . .

Just A Second is where I share book reviews and other book-related things, and update on what's on my bookshelf. This week I've been reading:

A parting shot . . . As soon as we got home Kennady found a temporary home for the mason jar lamp she made at Christmas Craft Breakfast. I think I need a whole set of these!

I love her blue hair! :) My daughter had a purple streak for a while, but laziness won and it faded away over time.
The mason jar lamp is adorable...what a cool project.
