We spent the weekend in Columbus, visiting our son and daughter-in-law and granddaughter. We spent our Saturday at the Columbus Zoo. First, we had to have coffee!
This is where the deer and the antelope play. And also the bison.
Pronghorn antelope |
Next, the bears. Polar, Black, and Brown.
This was from the lower viewing area of the polar bear habitat. |
The lions' habitat was designed to look like the plane crash site from the animated movie "Madagascar".
A little musical interlude.
Back to the animals of North America and Europe - reindeer, mountain lions, and the songbird aviary.
Had to go to Ohio to see a Baltimore Oriole. I've seen them near our house, but have never been able to get a picture. |
Veronica and Poppy take a break |
The tigers were napping.
The aquarium was a welcome break from the heat, and a chance to see manatees and sea turtles.
She doesn't look too thrilled in this picture, but she liked watching the fish and manatees.
In the "Australia" area, the kangaroos were taking a break from the heat as well.
Komodo dragon |
This orangutan was beating the heat by staying wrapped up in a burlap blanket. Whatever works!
