Welcome to Homeschool Highlights!
This weekly link-up is your opportunity to share some highlights of what is happening in your homeschool and in your world each week. If you write a wrap-up post at the end of each week, like I've been doing, we'd love to see what you're busy with from week to week. If you'd like to pick a favorite post from your week that spotlights a resource or activity in your homeschool that you'd like to tell others about, we're interested in those too. I'm keeping the guidelines as simple as I can, and they will appear at the bottom of each post, along with the link tool. I look forward to getting to know you, and I hope this will be a source of encouragement and good ideas for all of us.

Grab a cup of coffee and let's get started!

Homeschool news  . . . Despite having way too many interruptions, and fighting off colds, I think we managed quite well with schoolwork. History, Algebra, Writing, French, Speech, Music, and even some art and some technology were completed this week, and while she's not ahead of schedule anywhere at this point, she's on target with most things, and pretty close with the others. The first quarter has ended, which doesn't affect us much, but it does give me a time stamp so to speak. I'll be taking a closer look at how we're doing time-wise on the weekend. Oh, and her French instructor did give us a cumulative grade thus far, and we were very pleased with it!

Other news . . . I'll go a little out of order here, because I want to start by saying a big thank you to the veterans and their families for their sacrifice and service, in recognition of Veterans Day tomorrow. In Canada, November 11th is observed as Remembrance Day, to honor the memory of the soldiers who have given their lives in service.

On the weekend, the hubster and I actually managed a date night and went to the Hershey Bears game on Saturday.

I mentioned it was a date night, right?!
We set our clocks back. I am not a fan of Daylight Savings Time, but the "extra" hour is still kind of fun.

During the week, the hubster was out of town for a few days, which actually helped us out a little when it came to shuffling the vehicles. We're down one as the truck is wrecked and we're awaiting a final decision from the insurance company on whether they will write it off. They almost certainly will, and that's a bummer.

And we saw a few flakes of snow early this morning! What?! I'm not ready for that kind of winter yet. Also, I am slammed at work today - which is why this post is so late!

What's Important . . . No one was hurt. I keep telling myself that. Because it's very discouraging otherwise, as we wait for insurance to offer us a settlement on what will most likely be a total loss of another vehicle. And it's not like we've got money sitting around to replace it either.

On my blogs last week . . .

And on my book blog, Just A Second:

Wordless Wednesday - Snowman
Teaser Tuesday/First Chapter First Paragraph - The Sound of Rain
What I'm Reading - November 6, 2017
Recent Reads - A Dangerous Legacy
Scripture and a Snapshot - Undivided Heart

Just A Second is where I share book reviews and other book-related things, and update on what's on my bookshelf. This week I finished and reviewed A Dangerous Legacy by Elizabeth Camden, and I've been reading:

31 Proverbs to Light Your Path by Liz Curtis Higgs
The Sound of Rain by Sarah Loudin Thomas
Isaiah's Daughter: A Novel of Prophets and Kings by Mesu Andrews

A parting shot . . . The holidays have arrived at the stores, and Kennady and I enjoyed our first look at Christmas lights. Her picture like this is prettier than mine though.

That is such a bummer about the truck; thank goodness no one was hurt. I love that lights picture and I have to say that you have quite the collection of adorable mugs!

Love the lights picture. Sorry about the truck, did you hit a deer?

the truck - our son got sleepy while driving to work and wound up in a ditch of some sort. :-(
