Welcome to Homeschool Highlights!
This weekly link-up is your opportunity to share some highlights of what is happening in your homeschool and in your world each week. If you write a wrap-up post at the end of each week, like I've been doing, we'd love to see what you're busy with from week to week. If you'd like to pick a favorite post from your week that spotlights a resource or activity in your homeschool that you'd like to tell others about, we're interested in those too. I'm keeping the guidelines as simple as I can, and they will appear at the bottom of each post, along with the link tool. I look forward to getting to know you, and I hope this will be a source of encouragement and good ideas for all of us.
Homeschool news . . . Well, there really isn't any homeschool news. The student being at camp and all. And I didn't work much on anything school related either, because of our little vacation at the beginning of this week. The only homeschool related news is that I've started contacting the students in my co-op classes!
Other news . . . Last weekend was the hubster's Old Fat Bald Guys hockey tournament. This fun weekend event includes a golf tournament, cookout, pool party, and silent auction as well as the hockey tournament, and it's all for charity. This year the guys raised money to support the US Sled Hockey team. In past years, they've supported Special Olympics, Platoon 22, and Wounded Warriors. Of course we didn't win anything in the auction this year, but Landon won four things!
When the tournament was over, the hubster and I packed up and headed to Columbus. He was attending a trade show on Monday and Tuesday, and since our oldest son and his family live in Columbus, it was a perfect opportunity for us to spend a little time with them as well. And do a little exploring.
But the main attraction was our darling little granddaughter!
Looks like they play at a penitentiary. They don't. Just making use of a handy barbed wire fence between the rink and the water treatment plant to dry out some equipment between games! |
North Market in downtown Columbus |
We visited the Garden of Roses one afternoon while Harrison and Angela were both working.
We ate out a couple times and enjoyed some great food!
Maple Bacon Pork and Grits |
Hofbrauhausen Hot Brown |
Nitro Float |
While we were off doing that, the boys were holding down the fort at home, and Kennady was off to High School Camp. We got home on Wednesday evening, and I'm looking forward to when Kennady gets home on Saturday!
What I Loved This Week . . . I absolutely loved being able to spend some time with Little Vee!
On my blogs last week . . .

Virtual Refrigerator - Butterfly
A Strasburg Rail Road PhotoJournal
And on my book blog, Just A Second:

Just A Second is where I share book reviews and other book-related things, and update on what's on my bookshelf. This week I finished and reviewed A Daring Venture by Elizabeth Camden, and I've been reading:
Delilah: Treacherous Beauty by Angela Hunt
Where the Fire Falls: A Vintage National Parks Novel by Karen Barnett
Condemn Me Not: Accused of Witchcraft by Heather B. Moore
A parting shot . . . The Loft bookstore in the German Village in Columbus. A must visit for book lovers!
