Welcome to the Virtual Refrigerator art link-up! Thank you for joining us as we share what we're creating in our homeschools. We cordially invite you to add your link sharing artwork that's on your Virtual Refrigerator and then hop over to the other blogs and admire what's on their Fridges too! The Virtual Fridge link-up is open all month, with anchor posts planned for each Wednesday.
Today is Halloween, and because we've been crazy busy with no time to complete a new art project, I chose a few past Virtual Fridge posts to feature.
Just recently, my three kids carved these jack-o-lanterns; and a few years ago, Kennady created this pretty pumpkin in pastels.
Kennady also likes the colorful creativity of sugar skulls, and colored this one a couple years ago.

Yesterday I shared a history post that included some background on Halloween, All Saints' Day, and All Souls' Day, and talked a little about the Latin American celebration of Dia de los Muertos. That's where the sugar skulls originated! Also popular for Dia de los Muertos decorating is Papel Picado, which I featured on the Virtual Fridge a couple years ago: Virtual Refrigerator - Papel Picado for Dia de los Muertos
Papel Picado means 'pierced paper', and is a banner made of cut paper designs often used for special occasions in Mexico. Authentic Papel Picado is cut from tissue paper, and the artists use a mallet to punch through the papers. When we did it, we used leftover solid color gift-wrap paper, and a template to trace the design, then cut it out with scissors. We taped the papers to a string and tied our banner in front of the window.
You may not have enough empty milk jugs handy to make a lot of these simple ghost decorations today, but here's the idea anyway. We had a lot of fun with these several years ago for our church's Trunk or Treat event, and then had them lighting up our stairway at home for a couple weeks afterwards!

By the way, this is not strictly Halloween related, but later today Kennady and I will be dressing up a little bit to attend a twenty one pilots concert. Something like this:

Kennady is a huge fan of the band, and did this tribute art last year. And since this is a Virtual Fridge with plenty of virtual magnets, it looks like there's room to show it off again.

We made jugs like that once but we added hats and earmuffs to ours and made them into snowmen at Christmas time.
