Welcome to Homeschool Highlights!
This weekly link-up is your opportunity to share some highlights of what is happening in your homeschool and in your world each week. If you write a wrap-up post at the end of each week, like I've been doing, we'd love to see what you're busy with from week to week. If you'd like to pick a favorite post from your week that spotlights a resource or activity in your homeschool that you'd like to tell others about, we're interested in those too. I'm keeping the guidelines as simple as I can, and they will appear at the bottom of each post, along with the link tool. I look forward to getting to know you, and I hope this will be a source of encouragement and good ideas for all of us.

Grab a cup of coffee and let's get started!

That's right - a snowflake mug. Because we have snow. In mid-November.

Homeschool news  . . . Everything was going pretty great with school this week, until we had to cancel co-op classes yesterday because of a winter storm warning! Kennady was really on top of her homework and was looking forward to giving her prepared speech in class, but it was not to be. I emailed the US History students with the reading and assignment they would have had in class, but I still need to give the Creative Writing students a summary of what they should be working on before our next class. Because co-op is on a Thursday, we don't meet next week either (Thanksgiving).

Other news . . . On Friday night, we had a Family Movie Night at church, which was fun. We watched The Polar Express which is one of the hubster's favorites. Little did we know that the snowy theme would come back later on in the week!

On Saturday I did a bit of shopping and killed time for a couple of hours while Kennady was at a chorus workshop in the afternoon. The kids went bowling with their young adult group in the evening, so the hubs and I had a quiet evening at home. We formally welcomed our new Children's Pastor and her family to our church during the service on Sunday morning. Kennady went with a couple of friends to a school play in the afternoon.

Veterans Day was observed on Monday - as was Remembrance Day in Canada, and I still think of it as Remembrance Day. However, only Spencer had the day off work. That's because he works at a restaurant located inside the courthouse, and courts were not in session.

Tuesday and Wednesday were the usual crazy busy, and of course I worked on Wednesday morning. That put me rather behind schedule when it came to preparing for co-op classes. Sure enough, I wound up sitting up half the night so I could finish grading papers and have my lesson completely prepped. I even joked with someone online that since I was staying up so late - "just watch. It will snow tomorrow just to spite me!" Guess what? That's what happened! And it's not that I object to the snow so much, but I was a bit put out at the timing. Of all the days, it had to happen on a Thursday so co-op was cancelled. And also I didn't get the email until I'd already showered and dressed, I didn't even have the full luxury of going back to bed!

Well, first world problems, I guess. We took the day and just relaxed at home!

What I'm Highlighting . . . this guitar course that we just reviewed. I wish I'd thought seriously and got started on it myself, but I kept putting it off. After all, Kennady is the guitarist in the family, and she did a great job with the Guitar 360 Method, helping me with the review! I'm going to try learning (re-learning) guitar using the Absolute Beginners lessons available.  The Review Crew was featuring Guitar 360 Method reviews this week, so stop by the Crew blog and check those out!

I recommend . . . checking out the Homeschool Review Crew's application for 2019! The Crew is looking to double in size, and we are still accepting applications from interested homeschool bloggers. You can find out more by checking out the Homeschool Review Crew blogAll the details and requirements are at: Homeschool Review Crew Needs You and you'll find the application there too.

On my blogs last week . . .

And on my book blog, Just A Second:

What I'm Reading - November 12, 2018
Scripture and a Snapshot - Jesus Only

Just A Second is where I share book reviews and other book-related things, and update on what's on my bookshelf. This week I've been reading:

The Picture of Dorian Gray (Dover Thrift Editions) by Oscar Wilde
Word by Word: The Secret Life of Dictionaries by Kory Stamper
Uncle Tom's Cabin by Harriet Beecher Stowe

A parting shot . . . this is a picture my daughter-in-law sent me this week. They just moved into a new house, and she thought it had been a little quiet. (If you have little ones, you know that's dangerous!) She went to check and found two-year-old Vee had cleared herself a nice spot in the pantry for a nap! Isn't she the sweetest thing?

I can't say snow in November is all that shocking in New England but it has been quite a few years since we've had snowfall this early that I just did not believe the forecast at all.

Your granddaughter! That is so precious. I could see my own three-year-old doing something like that if we had big enough shelf space.

Love your little daughter on the shelf! So cute! We had snow this week as well but not very much of it and it didn't stay long. It just looked pretty.
