Welcome to Homeschool Highlights!
This weekly link-up is your opportunity to share some highlights of what is happening in your homeschool and in your world each week. If you write a wrap-up post at the end of each week, like I've been doing, we'd love to see what you're busy with from week to week. If you'd like to pick a favorite post from your week that spotlights a resource or activity in your homeschool that you'd like to tell others about, we're interested in those too. I'm keeping the guidelines as simple as I can, and they will appear at the bottom of each post, along with the link tool. I look forward to getting to know you, and I hope this will be a source of encouragement and good ideas for all of us.
Grab a cup of coffee and let's get started!
One last hurrah with my Calgary Flames mug, as they were knocked out of the first round of the playoffs. And so were the Washington Capitals. My playoff pool is in horrible shape, but nobody else in the family is doing much better! And I'm not entirely sure who I'll be cheering for now - probably the St. Louis Blues and Columbus Blue Jackets.

Homeschool news . . . After last week's more relaxed school schedule, we had to work a bit harder this week. But for the most part, Kennady also had to work on her own because I just wasn't around much! Obviously she's able to do that, but I think it would have gone better if I'd been checking on progress more. All the co-op homework got done on time, and I had my lessons prepared for co-op, and we only have two classes left now! She also worked some on the Critical Thinking Co. vocabulary.
Other news . . . Our very busy week started on Friday evening. I went along with Kennady to see an Easter production at one of the churches in town. A friend from her "Co-op Crew" was an actor in the play so all of the Crew attended, including the instructor. It was an excellent production, and afterwards we all went out for pizza courtesy of the actor's mom.
Saturday was a little quieter, but we got quite a bit done around the house, and Kennady and I had some shopping to do in order to prepare for Easter. We had our family Easter dinner that evening, and I prepped most of the food for Sunday dinner so there wouldn't be a long wait after we got home from church.
On Sunday morning, Landon and Kennady and I were on the worship team, but the hubster got a break. After church we hustled home to start getting dinner on the table. All five of us were there, plus three of the Auxiliary Kids, and I had Easter treat bags for all of them as if they were still five years old. And Resurrection Rolls for them when they returned from a walk, also as if they were still five years old. But Resurrection Rolls are a long-standing tradition at our house, because the kids ask for them every year.
Some work accomplished on the porch on Saturday! |

After Landon and Meaghan had left for her family dinner, and the other Aux Fam had gone home, the hubster and I took Spencer and Kennady and went down to Frederick to walk along the canal for a bit and go out for some junk food.
On Monday I worked but we did our best to get stuff done around the house too, because on Tuesday and Wednesday, I was out of town! I left on Tuesday afternoon to go to Columbus to see Harrison and Angela, and Veronica. My sister was bringing her daughter home from university, and swung a bit south so they could meet up with me in Columbus. That was their chance to meet my daughter-in-law and granddaughter for the first time! We spent Wednesday morning and early afternoon together before Harrison had to go to work and my sister and I both needed to head our separate ways. It was a great visit, although much too short!
Veronica is finally willing to wear her glasses! |
What's Coming Up . . . we have two reviews we're currently working on. Kennady is puttering away with Vocabulary Virtuoso from Critical Thinking Co. and that review will be coming during the first week of May.
And I just received the download portion of The Wars of the Jews set from Memoria Press. I expect the books in the mail today or tomorrow. I offered to review this myself, since Kennady has more than enough to do wrapping up her senior year. Look for this review around the beginning of June.
On my blogs last week . . .

Just A Second is where I share book reviews and other book-related things, and update on what's on my bookshelf. This week I finished and reviewed Shadow among Sheaves by Naomi Stephens, and I've been reading:
A Dangerous Collaboration (A Veronica Speedwell Mystery) by Deanna Raybourn
The Governess of Penwythe Hall (The Cornwall Novels) by Sarah E. Ladd
A parting shot . . . I didn't get to spend Easter with the granddaughter, but they sent pictures of her hunting for Easter eggs on Sunday morning.
