Homeschool Highlights - College and Co-op Week Twelve

This post contains affiliate links - using affiliate links from Homeschool Coffee Break helps fuel this blog and our homeschool - thank you!

Welcome to Homeschool Highlights!
This weekly link-up is your opportunity to share some highlights of what is happening in your homeschool and in your world each week. If you write a wrap-up post at the end of each week, like I've been doing, we'd love to see what you're busy with from week to week. If you'd like to pick a favorite post from your week that spotlights a resource or activity in your homeschool that you'd like to tell others about, we're interested in those too. I'm keeping the guidelines as simple as I can, and they will appear at the bottom of each post, along with the link tool. I look forward to getting to know you, and I hope this will be a source of encouragement and good ideas for all of us.

If you would be interested in taking over this link-up, please let me know! I've loved hosting you, but because my youngest has graduated and my schedule is changing, I would love to pass the baton to someone else.

Grab a cup of coffee and let's get started!

This week's news  . . . As usual, it's been a busy whirlwind week! I worked on Saturday and then in the evening, the hubster and I attended a fundraiser dinner. A lovely dressed up date night, and we didn't even get a photo! I regretted that all the way home. And I feel like I didn't see any of the kids that day, so I don't remember what they did!

We still don't have our car back from the body shop, so I did plenty of extra driving again this week. The hubster also played some extra hockey this week, which seemed suitable since the weather turned colder at the beginning of the week.

I was barely home yesterday - after driving Kennady to college, I was at co-op just like every Thursday. I had hoped to drop off my rental vehicle and get the car back but of course that didn't happen. (Hopefully today?!?!) I had called Lowe's to see if the cooktop we'd ordered was ready to be picked up, and it was, so I went to do that right after co-op, thinking it would only take a few minutes. I was wrong. I waited around for such a long time and never did see the cooktop at that point, although they did have the range hood that I'd also ordered. Nobody could figure out how to print the paperwork that I was supposed to sign that I'd picked up the hood, and nobody seemed to be bringing the cooktop so I got frustrated and asked if I could come back in an hour and would they have it figured out? Yes, they would. So I went to keep my weekly coffee break date with a friend. But upon return to Lowe's I STILL had to wait around for a very long time before someone found the cooktop and they never did make me sign for the hood. And then I had to specifically ask for someone to come load them into my van. Sadly, as much as I like the idea of the online ordering for pick-up at the store, I have never yet had that go smoothly with Lowe's. But the good news is that we do have both the hood and the cooktop and might even get them installed this weekend!

Then in the evening yesterday, I did get to meet with a small group of homeschool mom friends for dinner and coffee. It was a nice ending to a busy and sometimes frustrating day!

Kennady has recital and a longer voice lesson today, so will be making a Friday trip to the college. A little unusual. She had plans to attend a concert yesterday with a group of friends, but the concert was cancelled so they just hung out instead.

What's New . . . I was finally able to pick up the new cooktop and range hood we ordered, so I'm excited about getting those installed before Thanksgiving! I hope we'll have time to get it all done this weekend, but we decided that we also need a new backsplash behind the cooktop so that may need to be done at the same time.

On my blogs last week . . .

And on my book blog, Just A Second:

Wordless Wednesday - Cloudy Skies
Scripture and a Snapshot - Thankful

Just A Second is where I share book reviews and other book-related things, and update on what's on my bookshelf. This week I've been reading:

The Friendly Persuasion by Jessamyn West
Penny For Your Secrets by Anna Lee Huber
Undertones by L.S. Popovich

A parting shot . . . we have some pretty interesting cloud formations some mornings!
