Five Minute Friday - Before

This post contains affiliate links - using affiliate links from Homeschool Coffee Break helps fuel this blog - thank you!

One word. Five minutes to write about it. This is the idea behind Five Minute Friday and this is my first free-writing post.

think before you speak
look before you leap

Being prepared is good, and thinking ahead is good, but some of the best things I've done have been things I hadn't prepared for. Or I didn't think I was prepared anyway.

I didn't know for sure that I was ready before I got married. I knew I loved him and he loved me and that it was right. We figured the rest out as we went.

I didn't know for sure that I was ready before we started our family. I don't think anybody is really ready for a baby.

I didn't know everything I needed to know before I started homeschooling. I figured it out as we went along.

I didn't know how things would turn out before we moved from western Canada to eastern USA.

I didn't know how it would work out before we opened our home and our hearts to new friends and to our kids' friends.

I still don't know how everything will turn out. I'm still in the "before" of many things in life. But so far God has directed us and I believe he'll continue. When I trust him before, he handles the during and the after, and I'm along for the ride.

For we are God's handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. ~ Ephesians 2:10

God always teaches us as we go. Sounds like we have much in common. Your neighbor at FMF

I love this! So true that we often have no idea where life is going to lead us.

Welcome to Five Minute Friday, Kym!

You post mae me think...for better or for worse, this is the result...

I was quite the different man
before the cancer came
for I did not understand
the rules by which the game
of love and faith and life itself
were meant to be well-played;
all would have stayed upon the shelf
had illness' hand been stayed.
But now I walk another trail
to another, wider place
where smiling, I can fain avail
myself of heaven's bright free grace.
Funny that in my own doom,
both heart, and yes, my spirit bloom.

In the #1 spot at FMF this week
