One word. Five minutes to write about it. This is the idea behind Five Minute Friday and this is today's free-writing post.
please be patient
********************
I don't like being patient. But also I'm rarely in a hurry to get something done that I don't want to do, and I guess that means I expect others to be patient with me. We're asked to be patient during construction or renovation. We're asked to be patient waiting for results from tests. Be patient waiting for someone to return our call or respond to our request. And it's nothing but frustrating.
These days we're supposed to be patient during social distancing and shutdowns. And that's no fun either. It's frustrating because there are inconsistencies in what we're told to do and not do (We can't go to work or school or church but we can go to the grocery store. Our constitutional rights are being violated and trampled but nobody wants to address that.) I'm not patient with stupidity or wrongdoing and I'm not sure I'm supposed to be.
I am supposed to be patient with people though. And I do try. 'Patience is a virtue,' goes the saying, and the Bible teaches that patience is a fruit of the Spirit. These things are true and so I work on being patient. It's easier to be patient with the people close to me, the people I love, than it is to be patient with people I've never met or people who are pushing my buttons. So being patient means remembering that everyone has their own troubles to deal with, and that none of us are perfect. It means giving the benefit of the doubt and not assuming the worst. It means walking away for a moment or taking a deep breath so I can think about a response. It means giving grace.
After all, if I trust God to have it all under control, then it's possible for me to be patient. Not easy. But possible.

I think you hit the nail on the head with your first statement: we don't want to be patient, but we expect others to be patient. Going forward, I will try to be more sympathetic to people's situations instead of being impatient.
I agree with Amie. You definitely hit the nail on the head.
It is hard to be patient with regards to what is going on the world today. Being home, having our routines and lives turned upside down, not know when that will change back to our version of normal...patience is a virtue we all need.
