One word. Five minutes to write about it. This is the idea behind Five Minute Friday and this is today's free-writing post.

born free
born again
born for this

These days there's a lot of talk about deaths. Too many deaths. Checking on the daily numbers of the death toll of the coronavirus, worrying about the deaths from so many other diseases or problems while the hyper focus is on the virus. Death is sad and tragic and often untimely. Death is hard and painful for those left to mourn. And not to sound harsh or cold, but we're all going to die. We're all dying from something.

What if we sometimes focused on those being born? New babies and the world they are being born into. Little ones being born into families that have waited and hoped for them, prayed for them. Some are born into difficult situations and into hardship, but maybe they also represent hope. Hope for a better life, for things to change for the better. Maybe hope that they will be adopted and accepted into families that waited and hoped and prayed for them too.

And if the babies being born inspire hope, how much more so are those who are being born again? Jesus Christ is still reaching out and offering new life to those will accept it. and during times of uncertainty or unrest, many people are more willing to hear this message of hope. May they hear the message in what we say and do, and may we recognize that these are the ones we have waited and hoped and prayer for, and accept them with joy.

Jesus replied, "Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again." ~John 3:3

Eternal life is not a peculiar feeling inside! It is not your ultimate destination, to which you will go when you are dead. If you are born again, eternal life is that quality of life that you possess right now. ~Major Ian Thomas

All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. It is by his great mercy that we have been born again, because God raised Jesus Christ from the dead. Now we live with great expectation . . . ~I Peter 1:3

I had lived through pagan days,
a bacchanal, and then
I heard a simple hymn of praise
and I was born again.
The flesh's soft and stale delights
faded from my view,
replaced by peace and rainbow lights
that filled the sky of blue,
and from the Heavens came a voice,
clear as cathedral bells:
"Son, you've made a darn good choice,
and you are saved from hell...
which really makes poetic sense,
for you'ld have been bad influence."

Amen... so easy to count death these days... may we look for signs of life. Thank you for sharing.

One of my dearest friends had a son on March 20th, right as this chaos was really getting thick. His birth was such a delight, a bright moment in the gloominess around me. I can't help but think of how scripture says heaven rejoices when someone is born again. Just imagine how much more they celebrate!

Thank you for such an uplifting reminder during these very difficult times!

This is so true! Even though I mentioned in my own FMF post that I didn't have a specific moment of rebirth in Christ, I find joy in those who do.
