Coffee Break Reading List (March 9, 2021)

Some of the things around the web that I've been reading or exploring during recent coffee breaks:

The homeschool reading corner:
  • Here's a recommendation that is going to be easier as the weather warms up and the days get longer - Children Should Be Outside for 4-6 Hours Every Day. That's from the 1000 Hours Outside blog.
  • Whether you're working on school inside or outside, not all high school kids enjoy literature. A few years ago I wrote this article for Heart and Soul Homeschooling that might offer some insight -  High School Literature for Reluctant Readers
  • Hop over to the Sparks Academy website to get Yvie Field's guidebook for Homeschool to College Success. Through the Door is a guide to help you and your student navigate from homeschooling to college without all the stress.
  • No matter what ages or grades your students are, if you're not a member of SchoolhouseTeachers.com, you need to check it out. We know homeschooling is not easy, and there are always challenges. The homeschooling families at The Old SchoolhouseⓇ initially created this curriculum platform about ten years ago. Created by homeschooling families, for homeschooling families, SchoolhouseTeachers.com provides practical courses that have been tested by the homeschool community and are engaging for all types of learners. Pick and choose the courses the work best for your family as you explore over 475 PreK-12 courses for all kinds of learners.

Some fun things I've found during coffee breaks:

This is comedian John Branyan telling the story of the Three Little Pigs if it had been written by Shakespeare:

What I've been reading during longer coffee breaks:

Sense and Sensibility by Jane Austen
The Sly Governess by Everly Rosabell

Find out more at my book blog Just A Second.

And for the Online Book Club, I'll be starting these in the next day or two:
Patrick by Jessica Dunn
Patrick: Son of Ireland by Stephen R Lawhead
