I Spy #26

Halfway through the year is a good time to start something new, right? Well, I sure hope so, because I just found this weekly link-up that I'm going to do my best with. Each week Lysha at A Camera and a Cookbook shares a set of prompts for photos. On Saturday she invites participants to share their photos in the I Spy 2021 linkup. I'm not much of a photographer, and I gave up carrying a camera years ago, so my photos are taken on my cellphone, but I do like ideas for something a little different for Instagram, or to put a few photos in my collection that are not just the same thing over and over. Normally I think I'll be posting on Sundays, but with Independence Day and all, it got put off until Monday this week.

Here's my first set of prompted photos:

- rocky - the short path that leads to our front porch.

- bird - I happened to see this great blue heron in the creek as I was on my way to work one morning.

natural - we were at the scenic overlook at Gambrills at 'golden hour', which is considered the ideal time for photos of people, but I thought it enhanced this pine tree too. No filter!

- starts with M - a very young praying mantis on this squash leaf hoping he is blending and we don't shoo him away.

your choice - can't go wrong with a sunset photo, and we've been seeing some beautiful ones from our porch. If only the photos could do the skies justice!

iSpy 2021 is hosted by Lysha at A Camera and a Cookbook. The idea is to challenge yourself to step out of your comfort zone and do something different with your photos. Anyone can participate by taking five new photos during the week that fit the prompts. Link up during the week and have fun!

I am so excited that you are joining in with us! I was really hoping to see our heron this week for the bird prompt but snapped a hummingbird photo at the last minute. Your pictures all turned out great!

Great to have you join us. A wonderful selection of photos - my fave has to be the heron - what a great shot. CarolG

What a fun challenge! Did you know that praying mantis eat hummingbirds? I always relocate them when I find them near my hummingbird feeders!

Thankfully we've never found a mantis near our hummingbird feeders, but that's something I'll have to remember and watch for them!
