July Photo Album

July started off with a flurry of activities - Canada Day, Independence Day, and Kennady's birthday celebrations - but then settled down to quieter weeks and less activity as the month went on. Here's a look back through my camera roll.

A couple of interesting sightings as I ran errands:

Sights at home:

On our front porch, we've been keeping tabs on the barn swallows that built a nest above one of our living room windows. We've followed their nest construction and setting of eggs, which hatched just a couple days ago. We'll carefully sneak another photo in another couple of days to see how the littles are progressing.

Feral cats in the area show up now and again to birdwatch as well, though obviously their intentions are not so benign. We do our best to keep them at a distance from the nest area and from our feeders. This fellow made himself comfortable on the birdbath, and naturally no birds used it while he was there.

Our lawn tractor is being serviced, but I sure hope it's back soon because our lawn desperately needs mowed! I'd let it go wild, but I do like having a path to the clothesline and I do not like the higher likelihood of ticks in the tall grass. And what if the new neighbors next door begin second-guessing their decision to move here?
