Well, it's been a crazy couple of days, and I meant to publish this yesterday, but here we are. Another lesson in always being flexible. Here is Something Loved, Something Read, Something Treasured and Something Ahead for this month.

Something Loved

I've mentioned The Conqueror Challenges before, but I want to mention this site and app again for a couple of reasons. First, because since signing up for our last round of challenges (I bought a set of five for my husband and myself), I also joined the Conqueror Challenge Facebook group which is so encouraging. And second, because I found out that I can give out a referral link that helps me and it gives you 10% off. So that's cool. Since I can't walk very far at a time these days, it takes a long time to do even one of the shorter challenges, but thanks to the Facebook group I've realized that I can modify the challenge for my situation. I am having a hard time being consistent about any exercise, whether it's therapy type exercises for my knees or feet or whether it's doing push-ups or sit-ups (both of which I can do, even with a bad knee - I just don't like to!), but like other conquerors, I'm going to 'convert' my exercise reps to miles and work on a challenge that way.

This is the Flower Route medal I earned most recently, walking virtually through Netherlands. Currently, I'm working on The Road to Petra.

Something Read

I didn't complete any books this month! Embarrassing in a way! I'm working on a bunch of them though. Perhaps too many at once, and that's why I didn't actually finish any of them. You can see more about my reading in my Monthly Bookshelf Review for October 2021 on Just A Second.

Currently Reading:

The Last Book in the Universe by Rodman Philbrick
Behind Love's Wall by Carrie Fancett Pagels
As Death Draws Near by Anna Lee Huber
North and South by Elizabeth Gaskell

Something Treasured

I treasure the concepts of home - a place where we feel safe and a place to belong - and hospitality - inviting others to share life and feel welcomed. Landon and Meaghan moved into their new home at the beginning of the month, and it is a wonderful little house. They have already enjoyed entertaining in their new home and showing hospitality. After all the upheaval of our renovations and then cleaning up and repairing after our flood, my own home is returning to 'normal' and we have also started hosting get-togethers.

That's Landon and Meaghan's place, and here is one of their new family members. Cats help make a house a home, right?

Our basement now has walls again! Slowly but surely, we are reclaiming this space.

Welcome to our home:

Something Ahead

We were about to leave on vacation (planned to drive away last night), but had an unexpected problem with our car. I'm waiting now on word from the mechanic as to when the car will be ready for us to pick up. Anyway, at some point, we are going on a road trip, but we are coming up with alternatives to the original itinerary, in case the car isn't ready today.

We've also started making plans for the holidays, and how we can get the family together.
