One word. Five minutes to write about it. This is the idea behind Five Minute Friday and this is today's free-writing post.
endless possibilities
open to the possibility

Everyday holds the possibility of a miracle. ~Elizabeth David
Possibility is a positive sounding word and opens the door for hope and for creativity. An outcome may not seem probable or plausible, but if it's still possible, maybe it shouldn't be completely dismissed.
That's our thinking right now, as my husband is beginning a search for a new job. We were stunned when he was let go just a couple of weeks ago, but thankful that our income will remain steady for several months. Long enough so that we have time to carefully consider all the possibilities for his next job. It seems highly probable that we'll have to move for that job. The most plausible options involve us selling this house and moving out of state and kind of starting over. I've accepted that as what will most likely happen, and am trying to prepare myself for it.
But of course, we don't want to move! At least not yet! It's a huge undertaking to clean out a house, prepare it for sale, pack everything we want to take along, find a new house to move into, and close all the deals. Settle into that new job while also finding a new church, and new routines, and new friends. In our case - and this is the part that we hate the most - we will be moving away from our kids. Two of our adult children still live at home, so they would need to move out on their own. They're capable, of course, but our daughter is a full time student so she would need a place to live that is very affordable and that is close enough to her university. Oh, and a vehicle to get there. We wouldn't be here to help provide for her during her last year of schooling. And we would instantly have a completely empty nest, without even the expectation that the kids and their significant others will come for dinner at least once a week or that we'll see them at church.
I don't much care for that outcome. Despite the hopeful possibility of all the good things we might enjoy in a new house and new surroundings, being far away from family isn't what I'd prefer.

There is still a possibility that there are job opportunities that would allow us to stay here, even if it's just until our daughter finishes school. There is actually a possibility that the kids could stay in the house even if my husband and I relocate. (Boy, that has the potential to relieve a lot of stress!) It's difficult at this point to say how probable those options are, but they do seem plausible. We are not counting on staying here, but it's good to have a hope that it's possible if God opens those doors.
There are so many possibilities for what God has for us next - here or elsewhere, selling this house or not, things we may not even have thought of yet! We have to choose to see the possibilities as positive and hopeful, and to trust God to show us which possibilities HE is leading us into.
Possibilities may be endless and unknown, but God is faithful to his promises and whatever possibility becomes our reality, God will use it for our good.
And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. ~Romans 8:28
This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us - whatever we ask -= we know that we have what we asked of him. ~I John 5:14-15

Kim Possible was one of my favorite cartoon characters and shows - and I was an adult when she was introduced! You may have noticed that my blog address is actually "kympossible". Her "I can do anything" attitude is the one I've tried to adopt, except that for me it's "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." (Philippians 4:13)
This post is linked at Five Minute Friday for the word prompt "Possibility".

Praying with you that God will clearly lay out His way forward for you and your family.
Just stopped by from FMF#21
Praying for you and your family, Kym.
There's the bad news on the phone,
there's the bad report,
but know, friend, you're not alone;
do not sell God short,
for when you've reached the very end,
that's where He begins,
and if you will but kneel and lend
Him all your heart, He'll rinse
the blurry tears of sorrow'd dread
from your lowered eyes,
and sights that you may see instead
will bring a glad surprise
to a soul that for so long
was afraid all hope was gone.
keep leaning on God Kym, he'll see you through this.
