One word. Five minutes to write about it. This is the idea behind Five Minute Friday and this is today's free-writing post.

explore all possibilities
explore the world

Before I write for FMF, if I don't already have a quote in mind, I do a quick search and just see where it takes me. I guess I go exploring for related quotes. Today all I could think of was something we used to say when going for a walk - and I thought it was inspired by Winnie-the-Pooh. Anyway, we used to talk about "going for an explore" which makes a simple stroll through the neighborhood or ramble down an easy nature trail sound more adventurous, don't you think?

a family explore to Key West - not the ends of the earth, but
sort of the end of the continental US!

Well, I didn't find that particular quote so maybe it wasn't Pooh after all, but I did find these:

We were meant to explore this earth like children do, unhindered by fear, propelled by curiosity and a sense of discovery. Allow yourself to see the world through new eyes and know there are amazing adventures here for you. ~Laurel Bleadon Maffei

We were born to be free, to expand our horizons by going where we have never gone before, and not to hang out in the relative comfort and safety of the nest, the known. There is a place within us that is courageous beyond our human understanding; it yearns to explore beyond the boundaries of our daily life. ~Dennis Merritt Jones

I don't know who either of those people are or what they believe, but for the most part I agree with these statements. We are meant to explore unhindered by fear, and to see the amazing things all around us. There are amazing adventures meant for us, but those adventures are bigger than just seeing nature and new places. God is the one who has planned adventures for us - good works that he has prepared in advance for us to do; and discovering his creativity and design in everything from atoms to galaxies.

We are born to be free and to experience life to the fullest. But it's not human courage beyond our understanding that is inside us; rather, it's a yearning to find purpose and eternity that God himself has placed within us. He is the one that calls us to follow him and explore all that he has for us.

But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.
~Matthew 6:33~

Seek ye first the Kingdom of God, then all these things shall be added unto thee -
put Him first and He'll provide all we need, and more
Your sister in exploration just stopped by from FMF #18

I enjoyed the quotes. I bet your children still get excited when they hear you say "Let's go on an explore"

Explore without a hint of fear,
without a jaundiced eye.
Explore, though it may bring a tear.
Explore if you may die.
Explore the dark and sunny land,
and on seas set white sails.
Explore, and take the offered Hand
that once was pierced by nails.
Explore the faith you've known of old
or have just acquired.
Explore, and let your heart be bold
although you may grow tired,
and then comes exploration's best,
when in His strong arms you rest.
