July Photo Album

As I was gathering up some photos from the month, it struck me how big the contrast is in my situation from the beginning of July to now. On June 30th, I had a total knee replacement so the first few days of July were spent on the sofa in recovery mode. Now at the end of the month I am back to most of my normal activities, and I am even on a little vacation!

Most years the first few days of July are full of celebrations and fireworks and cookouts - we celebrate Canada Day on July 1st as well as Independence Day on July 4th, and my daughter's birthday is right at the beginning of July as well. This year I wasn't able to attend any fireworks or cookouts, so things looked a little different. Kennady had her birthday party at our place, but I didn't have to do any planning. That was all handled by Meaghan and Dan. It was fun to have a houseful of young people celebrating though!

The kids all went to parties on Sunday and our Monday was also quiet. Probably best for me! My big accomplishment on Monday was washing my hair!

About two weeks post-surgery, I was able to get onto the front porch to watch a sunset.

Merida was a good companion even deciding to sleep on top of me. She usually doesn't snuggle up to me, I suspect because I'm generally very fidgety and restless.

I went with the family over to the church picnic to celebrate the end of the VBS week. That was my first big outing after the surgery! Landon and Meaghan worked at VBS during the week, and all the kids got to pelt the leaders with water balloons at the picnic.

Another spectacular sunset:

And now, at the end of the month, the hubster and I are visiting our son and his family in Columbus. Nothing better than spending some time with our adorable granddaughter! Poppy is letting her play a game on his tablet, and I got to color with her. We all went to see the Minions movie - and those movie theater recliners were so comfortable for my knee!

Yesterday the hubster and I visited Franklin Park Conservatory and I got in a lot of walking! I took it slow but I did well using just a cane.

The current featured exhibits include topiaries and a train garden.

Great photos you're sharing. Amazing how quickly we heal anymore from surguries. Glad you're doing better.
