When we moved to the United States over thirty years ago, I had a hope that we would eventually end up in what I envisioned as a dream home. The American dream, if you will. I wanted to raise a family in a house in the country or perhaps on the outskirts of a very small town. In the country, so I could see the stars. I wanted a two story house - don't ask me why, but I thought it would be so wonderful to have bedrooms upstairs instead of on the same level as the living room. I also wanted a clothesline in the yard, and a wrap around porch. Ideally, with a sunset view.
Our first home was a vacation rental house right at the end of the boardwalk in Ocean City. It had a wrap around porch, and a fantastic view - a sunrise view over the ocean. Then we lived in a second story apartment - we certainly had to go upstairs to the bedrooms! Then a house in the country. It wasn't perfect but I sure loved having a place in the country with a huge yard. Then it was time to move to another state and start over.
We started out in a little apartment that we could move into short notice, while we looked for a house to buy. We were finally ready to own a home. The one we got was a two story house, with bedrooms on the second floor. I loved the small town life, but it wasn't long before we felt we were outgrowing the place, and we found ourselves with an opportunity to buy another place.
I have a two story house in the country, with a huge yard. There's a clothesline in the backyard. There's a deck in the back of the house - with a sunrise view - and a covered porch on the front of the house. A porch with a beautiful sunset view. And because it's out in the country, we enjoy a clear view of the stars. All my dream views.
Sunrises:
Sunsets:
Night skies:
LORD, you alone are my portion and my cup;
you make my lot secure.
The boundary lines have fallen for me in pleasant places;
surely I have a delightful inheritance.
~Psalm 16:5-6~
Take delight in the LORD,
and he will give you the desires of your heart.
~Psalm 37:4~
Thank you, Lord, for all your blessings. Thank you for giving me the views I dreamed of.

Sunsets, like childhood, are viewed with wonder not just because they are beautiful but because they are fleeting. ~Richard Paul Evans

No matter where I might reside,
no matter where I roam,
I will never try to hide
that a basha feels like home.
The bamboo of its fragrant walls
keeps out the monsoon winds
as well as sultans' marble halls
hide their private sins.
There may be serpents in the grass
of carefully-thatched roof,
but I will let this small thing pass,
for there is ample proof
that here's the most rewarding life;
now, if I can just convince my wife!
So nice. Thank you for sharing your view. I love psalm 16.
Love that the Lord blessed you with the house of your dreams.
The photos are beautiful. What a view!

Beautiful thoughts and beautiful photos. Thanks for sharing. I love Psalm 16!! It's one of my favourites. Kath, your FMF neighbour at #18 this week.
how fun how God met your hearts desire in so many different ways. And you make me want to come for a visit just to stay and enjoy that view! :)
Kym, it was all in God's timing! So happy for you that you received the desire of your heart. I, too, have always wanted a two-story house but my husband's desire was to have bedrooms on the same level! LOL But it's ok, it's all good. Maybe my eternal home will have that second story. I feel blessed to have a home.
Thank you for the lovely post and gorgeous photos!
Just stopped by from FMF #29
