Think Back Thursday: Field Trip/Vacation

The Think Back Thursday theme this week is Field Trip or Vacation. How do I choose from all of them? I picked a bunch from a winter vacation we took a couple of years ago, to Swallow Falls in western Maryland. I chose that trip because the site where I used to blog will be shutting down soon, and I realized I still have a small collection of posts that I hadn't ever imported here. So in doing that, I found this collection of pictures from that vacation and decided to highlight them for TBT. (With any luck at all, I will get the import tool to work so all the original posts will be here. When that happens, I'll come back and provided a link to this original.)

These are from our day at Swallow Falls State Park, just a few miles from McHenry.  Is it just me, or is this kind of forest and waterfall scenery not exactly what most people picture when they think of the state of Maryland?  This beautiful park may be on of our state's best kept secrets.  There are two falls - Swallow Falls and Muddy River Falls.  At both, the trail offers full access to the river and the falls.  No fences! Just signs reminding guests that the rocks can be slippery and to use caution.  How unusual in today's world, but it was a treat to be able to get so close.
