Virtual Refrigerator: Science Sketches

Welcome to another edition of the Virtual Refrigerator! This weekly blog hop is co-hosted by A Glimpse of Our LifeAngels of HeartHomeschool Coffee Break, and Every Bed of Roses. We all cordially invite you to add your link sharing the art that's on your Virtual Refrigerator and then hop over to the other blogs and admire what's on their Fridges!

As I mentioned last week, we are taking a little break from "art class" but that certainly doesn't mean that no artwork is happening! Kennady was working on a landscape drawing of our backyard, but rain forced her inside, so it's not finished yet. I'm hoping today will be dry enough for her to get it done, but the sky looks rather grey so my optimism for that is waning somewhat. Because she loves to draw, doodles and artwork appear in the margins of much of her schoolwork anyway, and since she has been notebooking for Science this year, I asked her to include a sketch of one of the featured animals for each notebooking page. Here are some of the highlights - most are serious, but there are few silly ones too.
Title page

She couldn't resist adding SpongeBob SquarePants to her page on sponges.

My favorite part of the shark picture is actually the little bit of her notes you can read - I had taken the picture before I mentioned that she might have a word spelled wrong. LOL She was pretty frustrated with herself.
Another silly picture - her title page for the Fishes section.

Okay, this one is actually from Social Studies, but it's the same idea. Drawing does help her understand and retain information.

Be sure to check out the Virtual Refrigerator's  group Pinterest board. Come follow the board, and if you'd like to join us, just ask and one of the Fridge hosts can send you an invite. Continue to share your posts on the link-up each week, and on the Pinterest board!

You can grab the button above and add it to your post. Add your link here to share your child's art or your arts and crafts how-to posts. Please visit the other blogs and admire what's on their Virtual Refrigerators!

That is an amazing science notebook. Sponge Bob and the goldfish cracker made me smile.
