Homeschool Coffee Break: Homeschool Weekly: Working Hard Edition

In our homeschool... Kennady worked on a little bit of everything this week, but I think Science got the most attention. We wrapped up the section of the book that dealt with some of the basics of the atmosphere, and discussed Creation and the Flood. There were a couple of activities to do, and we finished up with a quiz. Next week we'll tackle the subject of weather and climate in the past.

Kennady is about halfway through Treasure Island, her book for this unit of Lightning Lit. She also worked on some Math. And in Geography, she finished with the British Isles and moved on to Greece. We still have some foods representing the British Isles that we are trying, and we have started picking out some Greek recipes as well.

Landon was working mornings this week, so he only got half-days of schoolwork done. His focus was on the essay-writing course he is working on, and he worked on History and Literature a little bit. His last day of work was Friday, so he'll be able to devote more time to school for at least several weeks before he is back to work again.

In other news... I mentioned Landon working during the past week. He got seasonal part-time work at the greenhouse, so he worked hard all through September. He was laid off this week, so his last day of work was on Friday - which was also the day he received his first paycheck! The timing made me laugh.

Today Landon was at the airport in town with other members of the CAP squadron, working at the WWII Bombers Fly-In. Unfortunately, DH and I didn't have time to go in today to see the bombers. We saw them last year and it was quite something. From there, Landon and his friend are going straight to one of the Haunted Hayride events to work as parking attendants and possibly as "Scarers" for a couple hours. They are supposed to get paid for doing that, but we still aren't sure exactly when or how much.

One of my favorite things this week... a date night!! Last night my man took me out for dinner. We don't go out for dinner by ourselves very often, so it was a special treat.

Since I last updated here, I have finished several books - A Stand at Sinai by Hope Auer, Beauvallet by Georgette Heyer, Making Waves by Lorna Seilstad, and The Eight by Katherine Neville. My reviews of all of them can be found on my book blog, Just A Second.
