In our homeschool... Thankfully we were all more or less healthy this week, so we tried to hit the books a little harder. Kennady got a lot of work done in Geography, English, and Math; while Landon worked mostly on History/Bible/Lit and Nutrition. We are having some issues with videos loading on the VideoText Interactive website right now, so Landon wasn't able to get Algebra done. I am trying to figure out how we can get it done - halfway through a course that has been going so well, and now our internet connection isn't cooperating. Ugh. We had started talking about researching other internet options anyway, so here's one more reason why we might want to do that. We shall see.
In other news... We have been making do with just two vehicles all week since our oldest son's car was in the shop almost all week. Hopefully we can pick it up today and get back to normal.
Here's our big news: Landon got his Learner's Permit on Friday, so now he will be practicing his driving skills. Like, on the actual road and stuff. They only gave him a temporary license, and will send the "real" one in the mail, so I didn't take a picture of him. What is up with sending it in the mail?? That is a new level of inefficiency, even for the MVA. LOL
Harrison will also be changing jobs soon, and Spencer is looking to do the same.
And we are headed out tonight for a Bears game! Been a very long time since we've done that!

Things that made me smile... getting positive reviews from the family on dinner last night! We had Chicken Cordon Bleu and baguettes on the menu - first time I had made either from scratch. It was in honor of Kennady having studied France this past week, so look for another Taste of Europe update soon!
34 Weeks of Clean...
I'm participating in a weekly challenge and link-up at Family, Faith, and Fridays. This week our assignment was to tidy up and organize our recipes, whether they are digital, in books, or recipe boxes, or whatever. I have a bookshelf in my dining room where I keep my recipe books, so I tidied it up, purged several books and magazines from it, and tidied up my collection of recipes printed from here, there, and everywhere. Several of us participating in the challenge decide to share our "found" recipes as well, so I will be sharing a favorite of mine tomorrow. Here's my tidy new cookbook shelf:
For Week 6, the assignment is cleaning our stove, and looking after some other loose ends in the kitchen. For the details of the assignment, go to Family, Faith, and Fridays. Join in if you haven't already, and check back next week for our progress!

On the bookshelf...
I finished all three of the books I was reading last week! Ticker by Lisa Mantchev; When Love Comes My Way by Lori Copeland; and Where Courage Calls by Janette Oke and Laurel Oke Logan. I've got the review for Where Courage Calls up on my book blog, Just A Second, and will update with the other two very soon.
So I started reading:
A Change of Fortune by Jen Turano
Where Trust Lies by Janette Oke and Laurel Oke Logan
The Princess Bride by William Goldman
A parting shot...
This is making me crazy. Whoever put the calendar back up after changing it to the current month *cough*one of the boys*cough* hung it just low enough that it interferes with the thermostat. Almost every time I walk into the room, it's hanging askew like this and it offends my OCD just terribly. I guess if that's the worst that happened to me this week, I have a pretty good life.

Oh, I remember when my oldest got his permit and then license. I'll warn you, the first time he drives off alone is scary, the first time he drives off with a sibling is terrifying! ;)
I'm not ready for another driver here! Jake has been talking about Driver's Ed again. He turns 16 on Sunday. It's time, but. ;) Yummy - chicken cordon bleu! (I never saw chicken cordon bleu when I was in France...) I've been working on decluttering, organizing and deep cleaning here for some time now. Does it ever end? LOL
