It's that time of year when Peeps are popular, and whether you think they are a delicious treat or an abomination, you have to admit that the Peeps dioramas and sculptures on display this time of year are pretty impressive. A city near us has an annual "Peep Show" with some amazing Peeps artwork. This year our church included a "Peeps on Parade" display for our Easter Eggstravaganza event last night. The Eggstravaganza is a community outreach our children's ministry people put together that features an egg hunt, music, games, food, and lots of fun for the kids of our church and our surrounding communities. This year it also included the opportunity to put our creative talents to work making a display using Peeps. They sold vote tickets so everyone could vote for their favorites, with all the proceeds going to the fund that helps send kids and teens to camp.
I was a little surprised that my kids didn't seem interested in putting together a piece of Peeps artwork, but then on Tuesday afternoon we came up with an idea and decided to do it. So with only one day to get it together, we bought a supply of Peeps and put on our thinking caps. We all contributed ideas, and Landon and I did the majority of the construction. We didn't win a prize, but it looked like we got a lot of votes, so maybe we finished just off the podium. So we'll be better prepared for next year!
Have you ever made a Peeps art project? How did it turn out? Leave a comment and let me know!
