Even though we're on summer break, there are still some school activities going on at our house. The pace is relaxed, and we're focusing on staying on track and doing a bit of catch-up. We also have a few things we are using for Schoolhouse Crew reviews:
The Power in Your Hands: Writing Nonfiction in High School, 2nd Edition from Writing with Sharon Watson - coming during the week of July 18th
When I first noticed Writing with Sharon Watson on the upcoming vendors list (which was a couple of months ago), I hoped very much that the product we'd be reviewing would be this one. It's been a wishlist item for a couple of years, and the timing is perfect now, because I didn't have a composition curriculum for Kennady for next year. So basically, we're getting a bit of a head start on Grade 10 composition this summer, and it's going very well.
We've previously reviewed the literature course from Writing with Sharon Watson - Illuminating Literature: When Worlds Collide (A Schoolhouse Crew Review)
Beric The Briton from Heirloom Audio Productions - coming during the week of July 18th
We have become great fans of The Extraordinary Adventures of G.A. Henty produced by Heirloom Audio, having previously reviewed three of them. So this review is mostly for fun! We do our listening in the car, and are looking at the accompanying study guide at home.
We've previously reviewed In Freedom's Cause, With Lee in Virginia, and The Dragon and the Raven. Find our reviews here: An Extraordinary Adventure in Scottish History, An Extraordinary Adventure With Lee in Virginia, and An Extraordinary Adventure with Alfred the Great.
CTCMath - coming during the week of August 1st
It's not that we love math so much, because Kennady really doesn't. But she remembered liking CTCMath when we used and reviewed it a couple years ago, so we were happy to get a chance to try it again for high school level math this year. We've started out with some review just to get reacquainted with the program and then we'll move on to the algebra instruction.

Those are the reviews we're working on now - we might add something else to the review list before summer is over, so stay tuned! These regular features on my blog will continue through the summer, and I would love for you to participate in these link-ups:
From the High School Lesson Book is my weekly post on something related to homeschooling high school. It's accompanied by a link-up inviting anyone homeschooling their high school students to share their posts about the experience as well. The most recent is From the High School Lesson Book - Independence Day.
The Virtual Refrigerator is a weekly art link-up that I've been participating in and co-hosting for a few years. The idea is that in our homes we often display our children's latest artwork on our fridge, so why not expand that and show off their projects on a Virtual Fridge?! Each week we invite bloggers to "grab a virtual magnet" and do just that. I've found that those virtual magnets can hold all kinds of projects - not just drawings and paintings, but sculpture, models, sewing and other handcrafts, and crafty home decor! Posts showing your child's artwork or your own, or how-to posts are welcome. Join in the fun! Here's the most recent: Virtual Refrigerator - South American Sloths
