In our homeschool . . . we had a very short school week - yesterday and today - because we were away visiting family at the beginning of the week. That trip was planned sort of last-minute, so I felt like we got behind, especially since last week wasn't a particularly good one for getting stuff done. Anyway, these couple of days Kennady worked on Geography and Math. Specifically CTC Math for an upcoming review, although I sure wish we'd been able to get farther with that by this time!
On Saturday, Kennady got to put together her stained glass project so we did have that to count for school!

In other news . . . So Friday evening, the hubster and I had complimentary tickets to the Keys game (Orioles farm team) and enjoyed a date night! The tickets were for the picnic pavilion, so even our meal was included. The ball game wasn't that super to watch, because the home team lost, but there were fireworks afterwards and those are always a treat. In addition, since the tickets and food cost us nothing, I bought some tickets in the 50-50 raffle and won a couple hundred dollars! Yay!!
On Sunday afternoon, the hubster and Kennady and I headed to Ontario to visit his family for a couple days. They are in the process of moving into a new house, so we tried to help out with some of the sorting and packing. It felt like we didn't do a whole lot, but I guess a bit of moral support was as helpful as the truckloads of things hauled off to donate and the stuff that we did get sorted. We also got to go along on the walkthrough of the new house so we have had a lovely preview of the new place! Although our stay was short, we were able to connect with a couple of friends as well. I think we were also successful in our overall mission, which was to help the family get rid of stuff while not bringing back anything that we didn't really need or want. We did bring home this old gas pump that had been at the family auto business years ago. The hubster really wanted it so we will clean it up and put it back together.
We arrived home on Wednesday evening, with enough time for Kennady and Landon to get to youth group and spend the evening throwing water balloons and playing waterslide whiffleball.
Yesterday we had worship team practice, and this evening we're planning to go to Landon's softball team party. Nice of them to invite the whole family!
Reader Favorites . . . Even though the Homeschool Mother's Journal is still on a summer break, this is a 5th Saturday, so in keeping with their themes, I'll share some of the most viewed articles from Homeschool Coffee Break this past month:

I recommend . . . stocking your homeschool shelves with Apologia curriculum. Their homeschool conference special has been extended to the online store until August 5th, so you have a week to get that 25% savings deal on Apologia-published resources, even if you didn't make it to a conference this year. Special savings on shipping too!
We all know Apologia provides amazing Science curriculum, but did you know they also have top-rated Bible and Worldview curriculum, Language Arts resources, a wonderful Geography curriculum, a new and timely course in Constitutional Literacy, and more? You'll also find the amazing Ultimate Homeschool Planner that we reviewed awhile ago.

I will be linking up at the Weekly Wrap-Up hosted by Weird, Unsocialized Homeschoolers, and at Christian Fellowship Weekend hosted by Biblical Womanhood.
The Homeschool Mother's Journal hosted by NextGenHomeschool is on hiatus until August.
"My Week in Review" hosted by Lisa at Home to 4 Kiddos is also on a break, because her family's home was severely damaged in a fire several weeks ago. Please keep her and her family in your prayers. Information on how you can help them if you feel so led can be found here on her blog: Blessing for the Boyle Family.

Waterslide wiffleball... that sounds like fun!
That stained glass tardis is fantastic! :)
We're trying Apologia science this year for the first time, and I'm so excited! Didn't know that they covered other subjects as well, so that's great to know!
Love, love, love the stained glass TARDIS!
