Today seems like a good day to finish sharing pictures of our Summer of Landon vacation! (The first set of pictures were posted last week in The Summer of Landon - A Baseball PhotoJournal, and the background story is in my post The Summer of Landon.) A major goal of the trip was to see some major league baseball, and I've already shared some photos from that part of the vacation; so today's PhotoJournal will cover some of the other fun we had.
We spent a day in Columbus with our oldest son and his fiancee. First activity of the day was to take their dog for a walk at a nearby park and recreation area.
She heard someone say "sit" so she did. And dumped her water dish. |
Harrison had found out about a local arcade and bar that allowed minors on Saturday afternoons, so we spent a couple hours there playing vintage arcade games and video games. Well, I didn't play any games, but I enjoyed watching the rest of them.
Then we went back to their apartment, and the "kids" weren't finished playing video games! They played for awhile more at the apartment while the hubster and I took a break back at the hotel. This also gave Kennady more time to get to know the puppy.
I think Zafira had just licked Kennady when I snapped this pic. haha |
So that was Saturday during the day. In the evening we all went to a ballgame, and on Sunday we went to a ballgame in Cleveland and then to our hotel in Huron. We spent Monday at Cedar Point. We rode all the major coasters and a few other rides.
Top Thrill Dragster - one of our favorite rides! |
New extreme roller coaster, the Valravn. |
On Tuesday we checked out the lighthouse in Huron before heading towards Cleveland again.
Our destination was the Pittsburgh area where we'd stay the night and then go to the ballgame on Wednesday, but we had plenty of time to stop at one of the beaches along the Lake Road on the way. We chose the same one we'd stopped at when we'd visited the area in 2010 during The Summer of Harrison.
taking a beach selfie, I think. |
This beach park also has a lovely rose garden.
I don't ride a bike, but if I did, I'd want to lock it up at a bike stand like this one. |
Plus we had to go through Cleveland in order to stop at The Melt for grilled cheese sandwiches.
We got into Pittsburgh early enough so that we could walk around the riverfront before heading into the stadium.
After the game on Wednesday, we drove to southern Ontario to spend the rest of the week with family. We visited Port Dover on Lake Erie one day. Who knew there were palm trees in Canada, right?
avoiding the paparazzi? |
Classic tourist picture. Kids wouldn't do it, but the hubster played along. |
Just being silly. |
Best view of the CN Tower I could manage as we drove into Toronto for the Blue Jays game.
And that has been the Summer of Landon. He'll be going to a Washington Nationals game this weekend, and hopefully we'll fit in a Baltimore Orioles game too before the season is over.
A shorter version of this post is on Just A Second and linked at Wordless Wednesday, hosted by Life at Rossmont, and this one is linked at Sometimes Wordless Wednesday, hosted by Tots and Me . . . Growing Up Together!

Looks lovely! I would have thought that bike stand was an art sculpture; it's so pretty.
We used to live in SW Ontario many, many years ago. The photo of the CN tower brought back happy memories of our trips to Toronto.
