Welcome to Homeschool Highlights!
This weekly link-up is your opportunity to share some highlights of what is happening in your homeschool and in your world each week. If you write a wrap-up post at the end of each week, like I've been doing, we'd love to see what you're busy with from week to week. If you'd like to pick a favorite post from your week that spotlights a resource or activity in your homeschool that you'd like to tell others about, we're interested in those too. I'm keeping the guidelines as simple as I can, and they will appear at the bottom of each post, along with the link tool. I look forward to getting to know you, and I hope this will be a source of encouragement and good ideas for all of us.
Grab a cup of coffee and let's get started!
I've got a brand new cup for my coffee this week - an oversize Tim Horton's mug to add to my collection!
Homeschool news . . . The beginning of this week we had company, so I didn't push schoolwork too much, but maybe I should have been tougher. I probably should have been tougher all along, because we had a brief showdown on Wednesday afternoon when I realized that things were sliding more than I'd realized. So some things will be changing. Actually we've already changed a little bit - instead of just trusting Kennady to get whatever schoolwork done on the days I'm at work, I'm leaving a more detailed list of the things I expect her to work on and need to see completed. And on the days when I am home, we will go back to working in the same room where we can keep an eye on each other!
There's no problem with her getting Art done anyway! |

Other news . . . My dishwasher arrived as expected on Friday, and even better, we got it installed the same day! It was quite the scene in our kitchen/dining room on Friday evening, as my husband's sister and her husband arrived for a visit very shortly before our friend arrived to install the dishwasher.
We had a relaxed weekend, with just some shopping on Saturday afternoon. We were lucky enough to be inside the mall when a storm pushed through the area, and heard later that there had even been some hail! No damage to our place though. On Monday evening, we went out for dinner to a favorite restaurant, Buca di Beppo, and ate WAY too much! Worth it! On Tuesday Kennady and I both got our hair cut before heading to gym class, and dropped off a couple pieces of her artwork for display in the homeschool group's feature gallery at the library this month. Our family headed home on Wednesday and we've tried to get back to normal once again.
What's New . . . the dishwasher! Yay!! (Sorry I didn't get a picture)
I finally followed through on a Birthday Bucket List item, and got a new coffeemaker. I got it out of the box but it was still sitting on the counter as of last evening. I will get it working tonight.
And the new coffee mug mentioned! We just had Christmas with my sister-in-law and that was a gift she brought me.

Yay for new dishwashers!
woot woot for crocuses, art done and dishwashers!!! :)
Crocuses! I love those first signs of spring... it's always so exciting to see.
The lighthouse is beautiful.
Blessings, Dawn
Ooh! Nice coffeemaker! Happy birthday :D
Looks like a good week, overall. We've had those showdown moments. Our local Buca di Beppo closed before I managed to get in there, but I have a soft spot for that place anyway: my Grandma used to take us there when we'd visit her. That one, or her favorite Chinese place. Yum. She knew where the good food was. Thanks for the happy memories!
Ohhh...those crocuses!!
Yeah for a new dishwasher!! I can't wait to get one again. We had to get rid of ours because we didn't have enough space for it. I loved the painting. Your daughter did an awesome job on it. Happy Birthday!! The signs of spring are beautiful pictures.
