Welcome to Homeschool Highlights!
This weekly link-up is your opportunity to share some highlights of what is happening in your homeschool and in your world each week. If you write a wrap-up post at the end of each week, like I've been doing, we'd love to see what you're busy with from week to week. If you'd like to pick a favorite post from your week that spotlights a resource or activity in your homeschool that you'd like to tell others about, we're interested in those too. I'm keeping the guidelines as simple as I can, and they will appear at the bottom of each post, along with the link tool. I look forward to getting to know you, and I hope this will be a source of encouragement and good ideas for all of us.

Grab a cup of coffee and let's get started!

Homeschool news . . .
We had a big homeschool week planned, but of course didn't get to everything we'd hoped to. (When have we ever done everything on the list?) Progress in Math, Science, History, and Composition is always a good thing though! I even got caught up on some grading and updated Kennady's assignment schedules, but I need to work some more on that.

Music took up quite a bit of time this week, as the Spring Celebration concert is this weekend and a Bach festival concert is next weekend. And her chorus is still doing extra rehearsals for those going on the trip to New Orleans this summer. Our family is also on worship team at church again this week, so that was an additional practice time as well.

This Tuesday was the final gym class of the year - probably just the final gym class for our homeschool group, as the mom that's been in charge of it is graduating her last students this year and as far as I know, no one has stepped up to take over. One of the guys brought donuts to share with all the students at the end of class; and then quite a few of us headed to Cold Stone Creamery for an impromptu ice cream party. So yeah, I had a Cookies and Creme Sundae for dinner on Tuesday! Don't judge me! The kids have really enjoyed that gym class over the years, and the past couple years Kennady has especially loved it - primarily for the socialization. She'll definitely miss that weekly opportunity to get together with her friends, but I guess we'll figure out other chances for them to get together.

Oh, Kennady did some art too, including this Chinese horse from ArtAchieve.

Other news . . .
Landon bought himself a truck last weekend, one that will need some repairs before he can put it on the road, but he's on his way to having his own vehicle! Also on Saturday, Kennady and I visited the homeschool curriculum fair in Frederick, at which I ordered the French text she'll need for next year. I was actually rather disappointed in the fair - far fewer vendors than in previous years, and almost none of them selling used books. I guess that's just the way it goes as more and more of us are ordering online.

Although the rest of the week has followed our typical schedule pretty closely, it felt like we were busier than usual. Not sure why! I guess we just had a lot we packed into the days. Or maybe it's because we are making it a priority to watch the Stanley Cup playoffs! A couple of our teams were knocked out in the first round (my Calgary Flames and DH's Montreal Canadiens), so that was disappointing, but we're still cheering on our Washington Capitals!

This evening I'll be headed to an Open House event for the middle school and high school co-op we're opening in the fall. Pretty exciting!

Reader Favorites . . . These are a few of my most viewed posts from the past month or so. Thanks to those who visited, commented, and shared!

I recommend . . .  taking advantage of the special sale pricing at right now, especially because they've just added a huge new resource - World Book Online. From now until May 31, 2017, a one-year membership for your entire family is just $99 - half the regular price - when you use the coupon code SPRINGSAVINGS.

On my blogs last week . . .

And on my book blog, Just A Second:

Just A Second is where I share book reviews and other book-related things, and update on what's on my bookshelf. This week I finished The Secret Bridge by Amy Le Feuvre (review to follow later), and In Farleigh Field: A Novel of World War II by Rhys Bowen, and I've been reading:

All in Good Time (The Gilded Legacy) by Maureen Lang
All the Blue of Heaven by Virginia Carmichael

A parting shot . . . My review of The Secret Bridge is coming next week, and so is my review of ArtAchieve!

What a busy and exciting week! I hope that someone steps up to continue the gym class as otherwise I'm sure it will be sorely missed. Such exciting news about the new car for Landon!

Sounds like a busy but fulfilling week!

It's always so sad when one event ends for good; we had a group we met with a few times a month for 3 years and this year the mom who organized it all decided it was just to much for her to continue and we miss having those set days to all get together.

I hope your open house went well! It sounds so exciting to start a new co-op. I've never been to a homeschool fair or convention - I'm just too much of an introvert and would rather research online. Maybe your's will be better next year.

I love comments! It's like visiting over a virtual cup of coffee.
