Yesterday afternoon, we drove to the Chesapeake & Ohio Canal National Historic Park, at Great Falls, and walked for awhile. We visited quite a few years ago in the summer, when we were able to ride on the boat. This time we knew we'd be arriving too late in the day to even get into the Great Falls Tavern Visitor Center, never mind ride on the canal boat (even if it was running), so we planned to just walk on the boardwalk to Olmsted Island to see the Great Falls of the Potomac and walk the towpath for awhile.
