Welcome to Homeschool Highlights!
This weekly link-up is your opportunity to share some highlights of what is happening in your homeschool and in your world each week. If you write a wrap-up post at the end of each week, like I've been doing, we'd love to see what you're busy with from week to week. If you'd like to pick a favorite post from your week that spotlights a resource or activity in your homeschool that you'd like to tell others about, we're interested in those too. I'm keeping the guidelines as simple as I can, and they will appear at the bottom of each post, along with the link tool. I look forward to getting to know you, and I hope this will be a source of encouragement and good ideas for all of us.
Grab a cup of coffee and let's get started!
Homeschool news . . . Sadly, it was pretty hard to get a lot of school done this week because we seemed to have so much going on. Fortunately, I had somehow planned a light load for this week, and for the most part Kennady was on track, so it all turned out okay. She spent Wednesday morning studying with her friend who had missed a couple of French classes, and helped her get caught up while also doing just a bit of socializing.
Kennady got all her homework done for her co-op classes this week, although she did have a little trouble with her Writing class homework and was still wrestling with her thesis statement late Wednesday. While I was still grading the previous week's essays, it should be noted. She clearly came by her procrastination tendencies honestly! Everything did get done though, and we had a good co-op class. All the students had to share their topics, arguments, and thesis statements for their persuasive essay; and I think I'll have some very interesting essays to read and grade next week!

Other news . . . After the excitement of the previous weekend, it was probably best that we stayed home and took it easy last weekend. Landon was off at Civil Air Patrol meetings and events, which isn't unusual any more, but the rest of us pretty much stayed at home.
Kennady and I both got haircuts this week. Hers is still so short that it's a subtle change, but I got a lot cut off!
And I am feeling rather under the weather, and hoping desperately to fight off whatever bug it is.

What's New . . . a couple of books I'd been looking forward to! And both arrived this week! I received my ARC of Isaiah's Daughter by Mesu Andrews . . .
and then my pre-ordered copy of the first in a new series by Anna Lee Huber arrived as well.

I recommend . . . visiting my book blog for a chance to win the CD Glory Song by Matt Redman. Obviously, I recommend the CD itself! You can find my review and the giveaway at Just A Second blog. Good luck and I hope you enjoy the music!
On my blogs last week . . .

This Side of Murder (A Verity Kent Mystery) by Anna Lee Huber
A parting shot . . . Kennady got the idea to recreate the first photo we took of her with a guitar. So here she is in 2012 with her first guitar:
And this week with another of her guitars, her current favorite:

I love your new hair!!! Those busy weeks are good, but draining aren't they!
Happy to find this link up. Don't usually do weekly wrap ups...just hard to find the time and even the stuff I do post is usually stuff I take notes on and then post about like a year later (oh well). So thanks for allowing other posts in too. But I love reading about what others are doing in their weeks.
I love the new haircut!
I like that coffee cup. :) good haircut, and I like the guitar... looks like a nice one to play.
wow, so busy this time of year :) Thanks for sharing this look at your lives!
How did the books turn out? Glad you had some reading for you. - Lori
