Welcome to Homeschool Highlights!
This weekly link-up is your opportunity to share some highlights of what is happening in your homeschool and in your world each week. If you write a wrap-up post at the end of each week, like I've been doing, we'd love to see what you're busy with from week to week. If you'd like to pick a favorite post from your week that spotlights a resource or activity in your homeschool that you'd like to tell others about, we're interested in those too. I'm keeping the guidelines as simple as I can, and they will appear at the bottom of each post, along with the link tool. I look forward to getting to know you, and I hope this will be a source of encouragement and good ideas for all of us.

Grab a cup of coffee and let's get started!

I suppose that my Homeschool Highlights posts are going to look a lot different now that I'm sort of finished homeschooling. Hmm. For the next little bit I think we'll have a few tidbits of homeschool news as Kennady finishes up the Consumer Math course and we do final preparations for her first year of college. I'll have to decide how long it makes sense to continue to host the link-up. If I keep going, there will be some homeschool news from me in the new school year, as I'll be teaching at the co-op. For now - welcome to summer school?!

On Saturday we had Kennady's grad party, and it was a gorgeous day for it! We borrowed a canopy and some deck chairs from the church so that we could make maximum use of our outdoor space. Funny thing was that an hour or two into the open house, the teens and young adults were almost all inside the house while the "older" adults were outside. Usually I expect the opposite! But one of the young men was having a difficult day with allergies, so that's the main reason the "kids" moved indoors.

Kennady did a lot of thinking about future plans this week, as she's been considering a possible formal apprenticeship at the piano shop where she's been working, as well as proceeding with her college application. I've got to say that wading through the application for the Maryland Community College Promise Scholarship isn't as intuitive as one would hope. It's a little frustrating, honestly, trying to figure it out, but we're praying that we are doing it all right and she'll get the financial package sorted out!

We also had worship team practice, appointments, visits with friends, and a co-op board meeting during the week. I finally broke down and went to the doctor about the worsening condition of my joints, and my hip in particular. As a result, starting next week I'll be needing to fit some physical therapy appointments into my schedule. Sure hope that helps though!

I recommend . . . checking out the Homeschool Crew Review blog because we are looking for some reviewers to join us. Some reviewers - like me! - are essentially finished homeschooling now that the school year is ending, or maybe their circumstances have changed. For various reasons, we always have some vacancies in the middle of the calendar year, so if you've been thinking you might like to do this, now is the time to apply. If you homeschool and you have a blog (or vlog), consider it! Have questions? Ask me!

On my blogs last week . . .

Just A Second is where I share book reviews and other book-related things, and update on what's on my bookshelf. This week I finished A Dangerous Collaboration (A Veronica Speedwell Mystery) by Deanna Raybourn and The Noble Guardian (The Bow Street Runners Trilogy) by Michelle Griep. Reviews for both are coming. I started reading:

The Pink Bonnet: True Colors: Historical Stories of American Crime by Liz Tolsma

A parting shot . . . or two. From the party.

My allergies have been driving me nuts even with my allergy medication... I think that's so funny that the younger crowd ended up inside and the older crowd was outside. It is usually reversed here.

I love comments! It's like visiting over a virtual cup of coffee.
