Homeschool Highlights - The Week We Spent Apart

This post contains affiliate links - using affiliate links from Homeschool Coffee Break helps fuel this blog and our homeschool - thank you!

Welcome to Homeschool Highlights!
This weekly link-up is your opportunity to share some highlights of what is happening in your homeschool and in your world each week. If you write a wrap-up post at the end of each week, like I've been doing, we'd love to see what you're busy with from week to week. If you'd like to pick a favorite post from your week that spotlights a resource or activity in your homeschool that you'd like to tell others about, we're interested in those too. I'm keeping the guidelines as simple as I can, and they will appear at the bottom of each post, along with the link tool. I look forward to getting to know you, and I hope this will be a source of encouragement and good ideas for all of us.

Grab a cup of coffee and let's get started!

We visited family and friends in Canada last weekend, so my sister-in-law gave  us our Christmas presents in advance! Mine is another Tim Horton's coffee mug - it's so pretty!

We started the week with hubby and me in southern Ontario and the kids at home in Maryland. On Friday evening hubby and I attended a retirement party for one of his best friends. On Saturday, spent a bit of time with friends and family, but also got away to Port Dover for a bit. It was a beautiful day, but the water levels were very high! I never get tired of lighthouse pictures . . .

We ended our visit to Port Dover with a Lake Erie perch dinner - it was delicious!

We headed home on Sunday morning and had time to drop in and enjoy a church service in Clarence, New York. It's a church we used to visit regularly on our trips to Kingdom Bound years ago, so it was nice to be able to do that again. By the time we got home, Kennady was already gone to kids camp. She went with our children's pastor to the staff meetings and training on Sunday night and has been there all week. She has been playing and singing with the worship band and helping out with leading activities. All indications are that she's had a wonderful time, but it's kind of weird to have her away from home!

Early Wednesday morning the boys (and a couple of our auxiliary kids) left for Creation, so it really has been quiet here this week! But I've been kept very busy with physical therapy appointments, one last homeschool review meeting, and some extra hours at work.

What's Coming Up . . . a couple of book reviews, here and on my book blog. I have a lot of reading to do!

I recommend . . . the June 2019 Homeschool Collection which will be live on the Homeschool Review Crew blog on Saturday, June 29th.

Homeschool Collection {Monthly Round UP}

One of the articles I submitted to the collection is one I wrote last year about this time: Canada Day Butter Tarts. Since Canada Day is just a couple of days away (it's on July 1st), I'll be baking some butter tarts and we're planning to enjoy some other Canadian treats as well.

On my blogs last week . . .

And on my book blog, Just A Second:

Just A Second is where I share book reviews and other book-related things, and update on what's on my bookshelf. This week I finished and reviewed The Express Bride by Kimberley Woodhouse, and I've been reading:

A parting shot . . . this Found Rock Garden in Brantford.
